Left wing politics is more akin to a 'brand' now than any kind of ideology. A designer label to be worn with as much prominence as possible rather than any kind of heart-felt belief or understanding.

Andrew Neil asked Diane Abbott why it is acceptable for people to wear a Mao t-shirt. Her answer was that on balance people probably thought he did more good than harm. Portillo’s response was that only applied to those he hadn’t killed.

Portillo has killed many more people than Mao.

They all died of boredom watching his railway journeys.

An informative non political, non left wing programme. I find it kind of soothing. He ticks some boxes for BBC, I guess, but I'm sure he is replaceable by some shrill, angry woman. Edwina Curry? sorry wrong colour.

On this Ginsberg stuff, it has been on every radio programme here ad nauseum. Also on the official news and government channel. She did nothing for here, why should I care?
The same is true of Trump, I just don't care enough for me to be constantly bombarded by negative stories about him from the same media outlets. I'm not American and have no family there. Our obsession with the US is ridiculous and unhealthy. It is merely a distraction from our own poor leadership and sad economic state. We can blame Trump, Johnson and Brexit so that we had no agency, no part, in our own demise.
Frankly, same goes for most western democracies. The deluded people shouting against Trump should save their ire for their own society, yet too brain washed to see it.
The same people will believe somehow that Ginsberg affected them, she didn't, but the truth does not matter anymore, when you can virtue signal everything and claim a victory in a campaign that never happened. Let these people wear Ginsberg stuff, their fifteen minutes of fame. Deemed newsworthy by BBC, quelle surprise.

You could even go a step further and say that our own commentary and ongoing interest in events even in our own country is a pointless kind of rubbernecking. I mean beyond things we can actually influence, which is confined to our locality typically for ordinary people, our inevitable fist shaking at this or that doesn't really amount to much in reality.
