Roy Hodgson is viewed as a safe option against relegation for S Parish which is his priority this season His hands are tied by the Americans who want out so SP is looking for a buyer We are club nearly running on empty with limited funds limited ambition and clinging on to Wilf who clearly wants out but is trapped by a club only wanting to sell him at a price well over his depreciating value and overpaid ageing stars in decline Survival or not against relegation this season we need a total shake up at the club - manager coach players stadium etc However realistically this will only be achieved by a change of ownership

Totally agree.SP priority is survival,nothing more,nothing less.
Bereft of funds and any ambition, very unlikely we will see any further signings this window as we struggle for yet another season, looking over our shoulder, hoping that there will be at least three worst teams than us,in order to avoid the drop.

That been his tactics for the last couple of years, SP got us in to the mess with the Americans in the first place. It’s a fact of life failure to invest will lead to relegation and that in turn will mean massive loss of revenue and the clubs value will plummet.

Signings of Eze and Ferguson on perms offered hope of a new direction along with a loan for Bats. In the end I think we’ve done the bare minimum required. Which although disappointing is much better than previous windows. So beggars can’t be choosers I suppose. For me the far more worrying issue is the Managers inability or desire to add attacking potency to this team and refusal to look beyond his core faves in the team. I can’t understand the approach against United then that absolute disgrace of a performance yesterday. He is such a frustrating bloke! Those type of royball performances just suck the life out of you as a palace fan.

Anyway signings wise. With no ITK to base it on I think we are done. Another frustrating season awaits.!

The nett spend is just circa 10mil, after the windfall for Sorloth is taken off. Hardly enough to keep us competitive, if SP is not careful my feeling is we could be heading in the same direction as Sunderland. Not one shot on target yesterday and heaps of defensive errors in the second half. Whilst it is good to have Bats back (hopefully, although his Bournemouth performance was not good) he is not going to be the prolific striker that we have been missing for sometime now and then if get injured who have we got to replace him (not Benteke or Wickham, as both would be like playing with 10 men!).

Good post- agree with most of this but didn’t think it was a disgrace. I thought we contained and nullified their threat well in the first half - but there HAS to be some plans to bring in a striker. We had literally no attacking threat yesterday and it will be criminal if we don’t bring one in - after pulling out of the Brewster deal there has to be another target in the pipeline. I don’t understand why Roy is so slow to react when we’re not playing well ( especially when we go behind).

What I think was a disgrace was that we clearly had a plan to sit for a draw. We showed virtually no desire to impose ourselves on the game. Once that plan was over, he just stuck with it. He can not justify 2 x dms off and 2 x dms on when we are losing the game. That’s damage limitation not trying to get back in the game. Roy cannot be defended when he says we have enough cover to get us through the season and mention players such as Meyer when he does not play them. I hate his style of football. yes he’ll meet his objectives of getting us over the line I’m sure which of course is the main measure of success for him but honestly it kills me watching that type of palace yesterday.

Have to say I agree with all this. WS watching the game with a chelsea fan. He was worried before the game, as it was a must win game for them and he saw what we did to man utd. Once the game started he couldn't believe how defensiv6 we played and just sat in our own half and let chelsea come at us. He was even more surprised by our substitutions. It was an embarrassment

No argument from me there - valid points.

I would be pleasantly surprised if any signings happen between now and close of play tomorrow but mortified if nothing happens between 6th and 16th October. I do think we need at least one more defensive player and two more attacking players. The triumph of hope over realism yet again of course....
