Sorry but Wilf can’t motivate himself half the time let alone anybody else.

Club captain needs to be a leader and motivator on and of the pitch....Wilf has many talents but these are not 2 of them.

It was a desperate and stupid idea making him club captain......he is clearly still desperate to leave.

Maybe hes realised after Roy's comments that he wont be getting a transfer and has reverted to the wilf from last season. Certainly looked like it today

I agree he is not captain material. It seemed to work against Moan utd, and to some extent V Everton.
I noticed yesterday though coming out for the second half the players were a bit disjointed coming out the tunnel in dribs and drabs. It was Jimmy Mac who called Kouyate and Ward back and made them wait for the others, he then counted everyone and tried to make sure they were all together before going out onto the pitch. I didn't even see Wilf!

I was somewhat surprised that Roy appointed him captain in the first place. I agree, he isn't captain material. He is too wrapped up in himself to be effective as a motivator and organiser.

I was just thinking this. Yesterday as the goals rained in and the penalties were given, we needed a leader on the field. Someone to put there arm round Mitchell and give Sakho and bit of grief.

He was just absent in that role.

OK we were OK in the first half but the class of Chelsea showed and our heads dropped.

Not saying the result would be different mind you.

Or maybe he just ain't a number 9 ? The same as we never played to bentenkes strengths we are useless going forward and we have been the whole time Hodgson has been here apart from that little spell bats was last here on loan when we actually played a front 3 with zaha out wide. Tbf to Hodgson Meyer is lightweight and he hasn't had a no 10, thankfully we signed eze this summer. Oh wait Roy has decided to stick him on the left and move zaha as a number 9 ffs

An experienced central defender is usually the best as captain.

I think Cahill not Luka, let's see if it happens.

Definitely not air-head Zaha anyway.

Totally agree. Pushed Ayew close for PoY last season and but for injury surely the natural successor to Luka who has gone off the boil.

Whilst I agree not Wilf, it has to be someone who is fit, is first choice and plays every game. Clearly, neither Milivojevic or Cahill fill those criteria at the present time.

I agree he’s certainly not a No 9 ....I can only assume he wants to play in that position but his trickery and skills are wasted.

Less than impressed with Bats in the little game he has had so far......just hope he’s not another pony.

I can't but help think that Zaha has far too much influence, and to be made club captain is ludicrous for someone who is prone to throwing his toys out of the pram.
In reality we lack a captain figurehead, I can't think of one player (fit) in the current squad who has the motivational and inspirational assets that Jedi held in spades.

When Freedman was our manager, I'm sure he once said Wilf was a centre forward in the making ... ???
