I eventually got a reply from the BBC -

"Thanks for getting in touch with us about the comments Melanie Briggs made on Twitter.

We can稚 comment on individual staff matters, but we池e aware of these posts and we are investigating further."

Kind regards

Careful - rant alert

So at 4.30 the BBC news program is Racism in Football.

Not children being raped by gangs of Asian.

Not why do so many black kids deal drugs and stab people, but a program that basically paint rich black footballers as victims,

Got an email from TV licence people this week saying my old card was declined. For the first time ever I知 not going to renew. The BBC can go f@ck themselves.
Not paying for this left wing rhetoric.

I'm with you in spirit but I continue to pay my licence as I fear that people like me are easy targets for them e.g. on the electoral role credit history etc.

Let me know how you get on.

The BEEB have given Wee Crankie an easy ride - online anyway - with her new restrictions today.
I wonder if The Prime Minister & Co will get off so lightly when they do the same next week.
We shall see!

BBC spend 」150k pa on the Guardian.

[Link]

So taxpayers money is being used to support our national papers, why?

It's not just the Guardian it's all the other newspapers as well. Why do you need 200 plus copies of one newspaper per day? Have they never heard of the internet?

It's no surprise that the Guardian is the BBC paper of choice but they also fund the Times etc. Enough cancel these orders and tell the BBC employees to buy their own paper. It maybe that in the newsroom you might need a few copies of each one but I am sure that those papers would provide those free.

More extravagance at our expense. I would love to know who in the BBC these papers go to I bet most of these people are not directly involved in reporting the news.

It's not, that's why. It's being used to inform journalists which stories the printed media are covering and how they are doing so. It enables them to learn of things they might otherwise miss and doubtless saves them far in excess of 」150k.

Internet versions don't cover all the content.

As you yourself identify they don't just look at the Guardian, fine newspaper though it is. They also look at the right-wing rags to see what their daily offerings of biased garbage are, along with the more serious contributions from the Times, Independent, Telegraph etc.

More extravagance at our expense. I would love to know who in the BBC these papers go to I bet most of these people are not directly involved in reporting the news.

Of course not. Those behind the scenes also need to know so they can be aware of developments and be prepared. My friend, who used to write Eastenders scripts and is now the Executive Director of another major soap, is an avid consumer of all the newspapers. He studies social trends and attitudes so they can be addressed in their storylines. When he wrote for Eastenders he used to spend a lot of time actually in the east end, anonymously immersing himself the culture there, especially when there was a major event, like an election or racial tensions.

Sorry I don't buy it (and neither do the BBC staff). They need them in the newsroom but 200 copies?
