Had an interview yesterday all was going well until I asked a question to the female doing the interview, I am interested to know about the team who i could be working with,

It was a courier for the nhs delivering blood samples

She said it's a team of 8 people mostly males and 2 women we have to have women not that there is anything wrong with women,

I was quite shocked at her response is it me or was that response a little defensive or even sexist? Or just a bit unprofessional?

Made me feel a bit uncomfortable

Sounds to me as if she was trying to entice you into expressing a non-PC opinion, i.e., "Yes, this positive discrimination's a complete pain." I think that might have terminated the interview pretty abruptly.

Use buzzwords like diversity or gender balance in public service interviews, ask about a gender inclusive policy for example.
Largely, don't for private company jobs, unless they are large companies or corporations that state that kind of thing in their ethos or mission statement.
I also think you will find mission statements/ethical policies, that kind of a thing, on many websites of public bodies. May be worth reading before you go to these type of interviews.

She may have been trying to entrap but I don't think so I think she was being unprofessional. If it was deliberate I would argue that she was the one making negative comments about women.

I have been both sides of an interview, sometimes when you are interviewing in a panel you feck up, we are not a machine, especially if its the 4th one you have done that day and really dont care anymore, the mind wanders..

Few people are good at interviewing. Even those that do them regularly. This sounds like someone that was flustered. I would not think it entrapment. Cock-ups are far more common than conspiracies

Women are far more experienced in blood-letting, but it tends to impact rational behaviour at certain times of the month.

The most important technicality when being interviewed by a woman, is to avoid getting a stiffy. Or as Mapletree put it, avoiding the cock-ups.
