Very sad news.He reached the grand age of 81, RIP.

I recall with affection the 'Spencer Davis Group' featuring Stevie Winwood.

I suppose 81 is good going for a rock star. Great band esp with Steve Winwood.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

faint priaise chaps - gimme some lovin' and I'm a man are sublime all time worldy classics, and the best white soul singer is NOT Tom Jones it's Steve Winwood - a genius prodigy who never matched the stuff he did in his teens, (when he was quite simply the coolest bloke on the planet) a lot of which would have been written arranged by Spencer Davis. RIP indeed

I agree with you all.
Top musician with some great music.
As for Steve Winwood - he can never have been the coolest man on the planet all the while that David Bowie was around surely?
Another amazing musician though I 100% agree!
RIP

For me the opening bars of Gimme Some Lovin are one the great intros to any song - the bass beat and then the Hammond organ coming in - sublime.
