I have banged on about this all the time Roy has been in charge we dont practice Throw Ons.. ""Bloody clear""

Roys blames the players for making a mistake with 2nd goal last night, but who sets up and coaches the team?

It continuously clear our team does not spend time on practicing throws. LFC have their own Throw in Coach!!

Ive counted so many times in every match how many of our throw on lead to an immediate attack by the opposition!!

Now if you dont believe me. re visit the Wolves highlights and see whose covering who, at our throw on, which lead to their 2nd goal. Its so poor and Wolves were ready for it, where was our shape.
Thanks Roys, you talk always about doing the basics, but what are your basics.. a slim down version of "basics"?

Funny enough when England manager, Fabio Capello commented upon the English team's habit of throwing the ball down the line, usually losing possession, rather than to a team mate...

We’ve been poor at throw ins for many many years. Pulis might be the only manager to have got anywhere with them.

Aren’t they throw-ins? I used to call them throw-ons.

I think the stats show you are just as likely to lose possession from throw ins as you are to keep it and that applies to all teams.

Precisely and every team has as much chance of scoring from a corner as well, I recall Townsend in the last game where Wolves almost (should've) scored, throw ins and corners are a waste of time to worry over.

Irrespective of throws our ball retention hasn't been good enough recently. One of the best ways of gaining a tactical and psychological edge against sides that are stronger is to keep the ball and frustrate them into poor decisions which we've done quite effectively previously.

Luka in particular played too many balls into players with a man up their arse or bodies around them and Riedewald only started imposing himself once we were two down and Wolves allowed him to take the ball off the central defenders and flatter to deceive.

Others were also guilty of continually giving the ball away cheaply.

According to this video, Liverpool's retention rate on throw-ins improved from 45% to 68% after hiring a throw-in coach.

Having grown up playing and watching basketball in the U.S., I've been surprised by how arbitrary the EPL throw-in appears to be. Ditto for corner kicks. At least yesterday's free kick effort, which resulted in the Townsend volley, seemed to be well planned.

When not injured, Connor Wickham was superb at throw ins....as good as a free kick if done right.
