We were quite hard up when I was a kid. One year I really wanted an Action Man Commando for Christmas. I was a little disappointed on Christmas morning to unwrap an empty box, until my Dad told me it was an Action Man Deserter.

I was made up. None of my mates had that one.

Very good.

I too remember hankering after an action man, only to be given a cheap knock off that didn't have gripping hands and moveable joints. it did make an excellent para from our bedroom window though attached to a keymarket shopping bag and string.
However, a few years later what I really craved was a Rayleigh Chopper, but never got that either

Thunderbird 2 plastic model. Got Thunderbird 1 instead....my parents just didn't understand that no.2 was actually the real No.1.
And a Chopper bike of course - my brother Gary got that.

I wanted one of those too but got given a Dr. Who Neutron Exterminator instead. It was a foil covered cardboard bazooka which probably wouldn’t have bothered many Daleks but was very good at knocking decorations off Christmas trees.
