Palace would always be on last & I'd nod off after staying up to catch the highlights.
Didnt come on until a good 10pm or later.

Kids,tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

There is an episode of Quiz Ball on YouTube. Arsenal v Notts Forest. Each team had a celebrity guest since it was thought footballers lack of media training would inhibit them. It’s amusing to see three of the Forest team smoking pipes during the programme.

In this modern era one just doesn't witness anyone puffing on a pipe.
Several years ago I used to know a charming gentleman who was affectionately known as "Pat the pipe" because of his regular use of his precious "Briar".

Like most aged fans I cannot remember much dissent about the changing the name from Glaziers to Eagles, there was some protestation in the Croydon Advertiser at the time but that did not progress in to anything more serious. What I do remember with affection is the ''The Glaziers Club''located to the right of the main players and office entrance under the old stand. The players of the day both home and some visitor players used to meet up there for a ''pint'' and chat after the game and they would also mingle with fans and it was a great way to get to know them rather than just see them from a distance on the pitch.The club itself was busiest at weekends but it was open most days and local fans who were members often used it as their local.The club also had a snooker table. Happy days indeed!
