We had plenty of very decent opportunities to find that goal, our players would've had a nightmare journey home for sure and yes Pope is a brilliant keeper should be number one for our national side.

I agree with the match pundit and others who said McArthur overhit it. Had Batshuayi moved any earlier he would have been offside.

A lot of very glib comments on here about what could/should have been. We scored zero goals against a very poor team and got exactly what we deserved out of the match. Poor team selection from the start. Burnley like to bully so we should have started with Benteke and Schlupp who are two of our more physical players aerially and if they wanted Eze in the team then he needed to be more central.

Look at the replay and see the lack of first balls won and the inability of our front line to hold up the ball. It’s so easy to see and I put that down to the managers tactical selections.

Burnley are struggling at the moment with confidence yes but they are not an easy team to break down, we had opportunities and you fully know we should've taken one of them at least, yes Benteke would've been better with the long balls out and holding up play but that sadly is all he can do at the moment, he can't find space for himself or anyone else and heading and shooting is too easy for defenders to read, he needs to drop a league these things happen, What would you have changed for this game?

I’ve listened to the post match interview with Hodgson and the problem he identified in the first half was that there were too many passes back to our keeper followed by launch of the long ball.
This was clearly evident and played into their hands as Burnley were winning all the headers and we were unable to get hold of the ball or win the second ball.
So not the tactics planned at the outset and Hodgson said that there was an adjustment that led to an improvement in the second half.
I suspect the defence will be changed for the Newcastle game as we have the luxury of enough fit defenders now and the two games are close together.
I also expect Schlupp to start.

In my humble opinion, McArthur, crossing with his weaker left-foot put a tad too much pace on the cross and it could have been better directed.

At least Batshuayi was in the danger zone and made a valiant effort to steer it in - Benteke would have been outside the penalty area !

When one considers this effort, the two saves the goalkeeper made from Benteke and the save from Batshuayi, we did have our chances to win the game and I feel that Burnley were fortunate to get all the points.
