Wonderful.

People seem to forget Palace bid £25m for Sarr at Watford.

Friends at Watford say Sarr pleaded not to go to Palace with Roy and his brand of football, let alone Watford turning down the bid. Which bright players want to play defensive based football.

In reality we have been linked to many players, apart from Eze with a 5 year deal (Mitchell perhaps) how many players were we linked too, that went elsewhere...

Yes, I responded. And pointed out yet again where you had contradicted yourself.

Managers come and go everyone understands that least of all Sarr, he fully knows that Mr Hodgson is not going to be here for a long time and so if he did actually say this which I doubt he is a very silly short sighted footballer.

It was in January earlier this year when Roy was continually pressed about whether he would extend his contract beyond last season.
I would anticipate a spate of similar questions to him next month during the transfer window.
There may not be a definitive answer from him, but we may get some pointers.
I get the impression he won’t voluntarily retire.
He’s always maintained he wants to continue while he’s in good heath and while he’s enjoying it and feels he’s contributing.
This implies to me that the parting of the ways would have to be initiated by Palace.

Why are you unable to understand that he is not going to be around as manager for very long anyway, what if it is another two seasons why do you care so much because it amazes me that you seem to hate him so much that he has to go tomorrow, whilst he is with us we are not going to be in a relegation situation in the slightest so just take a chill pill and sit back and wait for the club to decide who and when the new man comes in because it really really is very silly of you to keep on worrying about something that is not something to worry about.

Whilst IMO Pardew and Allardyce both did a good job for us overall for different reasons, in 2016-17, between them they managed our lowest points total since being back in the Premier League - 41.

Between July 2016 and Jan 2017 we spent broadly the following;

£13m Townsend
£10m Tomkins
£27m Benteke
£12m Sclupp
£12m Van Aanholt
£10m Milivojevic
Sakho loan ???
Mandanda ???

So about £85 mil all on players at peak age. Also Cabaye and Wickham had been bought a year before for about £10m each.

The North-South point was a digression just to emphasis how people from the south view most northerners, despite history telling us otherwise.

Allardyce is pragmatic, but sees pragmatism as a means to an end rather than the only way things should be done.

Allardyce's view of "respecting the point" is based on the need to keep the scoreboard ticking over when we are deeply immersed in a relegation fight, whilst Roy won't loosen the reigns even when its clear we are safe from relegation.

He achieve great things with Bolton, and get West Ham promoted. His successor at Everton was a flop and I think Newcastle got relegated after he left.

Would have been interesting to see what he could have done if he had the opportunity at a club, which alluded him mainly because he appears unfashionable. Its like a young Danny Cipriani once said "If my name was Danny Smith, there probably wouldn't be any fuss about me". (Digressing again, but Quinn's current fly half, Marcus Smith, is meant to have phonominal potential but hardly mentioned)

Back on the subject, Benteke's goal scoring record under BFS plus the decline of many individuals under Roy is a possible sign that he was better at setting up the team and getting the best out of players.

it is the fault of the player himself when presented with good solid opportunities to score but keeps on missing, football players if good enough can play in any situation they find themselves in, you are sounding like Roy makes the payers go out onto the pitch to deliberately make awful mistakes with defending and attacking which is really strange considering each and every player is in it for themselves regardless.

The only one who needs to take a chill pill is Tickled Pink.
There was nothing in my comment that suggested I am anything other than relaxed.
I was merely suggesting that Roy shows no signing of wishing to retire , and that if there was to be a parting of the ways it may be that the initiative would have to come from the club.
Suggest you read precisely what is being written before making erroneous assertions as to the content
I was critical of Roy last season, but feel he has sought to make changes for the better this season and I have also said that I see no point in him leaving during the season unless it looks as if we are mired in a relegation battle and there is a suitable candidate available to take his place.
Use of inflammatory comments do not enhance the validity of points made so forgive me if I don’t join in with the vitriol.

This applies to Zaha not Roy. Without Zaha we lose. Bottom line. If Wilf were to get a season ending injury we are down. Roy has shown he is incapable of finding a solution to when Wilf does not play. The fate of us retaining our premier league status rests with Wilf not Roy.

Your narcissistic posts are becoming extremely tiring. Your just some bloke off the internet like the rest of us. Stop preaching to people.

I interpreted your earlier post as you have explained it. Can't really see how else one could reasonably interpret it differently.

I also tend to agree with what you said. Roy won't go unless it gets too much for him or the board remove him. However, I don'[t think it will come to him being sacked; I reckon Steve would tell him that it's time to step down so as to allow him to leave gracefully rather than be seen to have been pushed. After all he's done a decent job for us when we needed stability and he hasn't gone off in a huff because little money has been made available.

It would be nice to occasionally look like the better team. Is that setting the bar too high?

If you count Leeds and Man U as us looking better, then there are 8 games where we clearly looked worse, including games against the lowest teams in the league.

And the match against BHA was an abject disgrace.

I think there will be enormous pressure on our players to get 3 points against WBA, and if we lose, things could get very ugly very quickly.

All managers eventually go stale with their players, and I'm worried that 2020 is Roy's expiry date.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle
