See the events in the summer in especially London after a dangerous criminal was accidentally murdered while he was on patrol with other ethnic minority policemen. If none of that had gone on you’d have more people go ‘Oh ok, fair enough.’ But it did, didn’t it? You’ve talked about respect. Respect works both ways.

The kneeling has been accompanied with the fist power salute which you yourself admit to be provocative or something. If someone got on with doing something this kneeling would be exposed for the pointless action it really is. But I expect you would claim any substantial changes were because some footballers got on one knee.

You are entitled to these views but they don't though have even the slightest connection to the points I was making.

Respect being given both ways is a given. Complain if you like when it's not given to something you expect it for but don't try to use that as a justification for any lack of it from others.

I suggest you try telling that to some of the players!

Many are active on Twitter. I am sure you can find them. Do let us know their responses.

This is Wilf's:-

Good luck.

Likewise. And this is what you do when you’re in a corner with nowhere to go.

Wtf does that mean? The whole knee taking thing was used in a distasteful way. That’s a lot of why it isn’t wanted now. Unfortunately respect in some young people has been like this for years. One way. And wanting respect when it isn’t deserved, but that’s another related topic. You live hundreds of miles away from it so you’d have no idea.

You then think everyone should lap it up. Again, F1 drivers refused to do it and rugby players aren’t doing it either. AJ in boxing isn’t doing it because it doesn’t achieve anything worthwhile and I’m struggling who else is doing it now apart from English football and Lewis Hamilton.

Football players - experts on politics and paragons of virtue. Well worth a discussion with.

Some might be, some not.

Not the point though. The suggestion was that they are doing this because they have been told to.

Try asking them if that's true.

That's the point! People can decide for themselves.

If people booed you if you decided not to join in then they too would be showing disrespect.

The players are making what they believe to be a sincere gesture. Don't interfere with that. It's not your party. It's run by the clubs and the FA and if you disrespect the players when they have asked you not to then you risk your invitation being withdrawn.

It has nothing to do with where either of us live. It only has to do with where it happens.

Whether or not you agree with the footballers, Lewis Hamilton or the rugby players is all irrelevant. Respect needs to be shown to them all.

I won't be seeking truths from some of the most greedy people on Earth, that's for sure. I'm pretty sick of footballers already, taking a knee and being so earnest about it is just shouting hypocrisy at me. However, some may have been instructed, some will be the instructors. Others will merely follow. That's life really. Can hardly expect them all to care that much.

Weird reasoning.

A person who does what he is told then is then expected to say when questioned that he's not that keen.....and if he doesn't that's some kind of proof.

Football is fine with the discrimination that it approves of....as in over representation of non whites. Yet apparently it has something to say on discrimination....and its supporters better shut up and live with the politics or be banned.

Belting starting a post with ‘weird reasoning’ and then excreting the rest of that afterwards. Unpleasant little man aren’t you.

Mmmm...has Dan lost the ability to post properly?....seems to be contagious amongst some on the Hol left.

Anyway ad hominem isn't an argument.

Regardless, I feel that rather than returning in kind I feel that my response to being poorly thought of by Dan is better expressed through the interpretation of dance.

So what? What I said is what I meant. It's nothing to do with someone registering "BLM" as the name of a political party.

It is how the term BLM is regarded by the general public. Right now only a few connect it with a political movement. Only those who are obsessed about left-wing US politics know about them. If that changes then I expect that football too would change.

You said
If the term "BLM" becomes indelibly associated with politics in the minds of the general public, rather than the minority who choose to see it that way as at present, then I have little doubt it would be dropped pretty quickly. No-one in football would want to be associated with anything political. Not on an official level anyway.

If they become a political party it won’t matter what the public perception is will it?

Let’s wait for the next display and see how much respect you show no matter how sincere they are.
52% of footballers demonstrating their support for Brexit?
Supporters are not being allowed in by an indulgent club; they are paying to be there or to watch on television.
