We like a bargain so I can see us going for Lundstrum, Osayi-samuel and Gray all of whom seem to be running down their contracts. All of which I'd be happy with. As I think they'd be eventual replacements for Townsend (contract expiring), McCarthy/ MacArthur who one of which could be leaving/ aren't getting any younger.

I'd also like to see us invest in a youthful CB prospect as Sakho will be gone end of season, and the rest although solid are old and quite injury prone.

Agreed, looking at the list it still strikes me as a very old group, especially at CB. We need younger players almost everywhere. The focus should continue to be on youth.

I have seen Osayi-Samuel in recent games, including the game tonight between QPR and Stoke and he hasn't impressed at all in these matches.

Youth youth youth. We started addressing it with Fergason and Eze and Banks...but as previously stated, most areas of the pitch need an injection of youthful enthusiasm and pace.

We have quite a few players who’ll be out of contract next year.

In terms of youthful players I have heard good reports about defenders Lewis Montsma (22), and Matt Sorinola (19) who play for Lincoln and MK Dons respectively and also midfielder Michael Olise (19) who ploughs his furrow for Reading.
Brentford left-back Rico Henry (22) is one of the best in the Championship.
Other young players rated in the Championship include Louie Sibley (Derby), Ilias Chair (QPR) and Ovie Ejaria (Reading).

He is almost 23. Young players for the future are 16-21. He should have been a certainty by now. He is not.

Lundstram is a good shout. Not done anything this season (in a struggling team) but was immense last one. If we can get him cheap or free as a replacement for Meyer, that would be an upgrade.

I think your spot on, the only possible buys would be youngsters like Banks last January for developement purposes.
You missed Kouyate from your squad?

Maybe a youngster like Brandon Kavanagh?

Tell Ian Wright, Kevin Phillips and Jamie Vardy that.

I don't think we'll do much this January and if we do I think it will be revisiting the likes of Bella-Kotchap and Downes.

We've done well enough this season to not have to panic buy and will probably be focusing on the summer window as opposed to now.

The only plus to making moves this window is that lower league clubs will be feeling the pinch with the lack of fans in the stadiums and the potential to snap up talent for less than you normally would, may be higher.

I would be surprised if we get anyone in.

We are currently 9points plus GD above the drop zone and we have a full 25 man squad.

Due to expiring contracts, we don't really have anyone to sell.

We really need to start renewing contracts ASAP.

From the list someone posted Schlupp, Townsend, Sakho, Benteke, PVA, Clyne, Meyer, McArthur, Mitchell, Guiata, Dann, Cahill, Hennessey, Kelly, Wickham, and Henderson all have contracts due to expire. You can't have 16 players out of 25 leave in one hit.

In terms of cost, 16 players would be around £200m to replace.

In terms of time, you are only likely to get in 4 players in the summer transfer window.

Therefore, you only really want to lose 4 of the players listed. I'd let McArthur, Cahill, Wickham, and Henderson go (due to age and appearances).

The way we work, look at people we were linked with a year or two ago. There was that Flynn-Downes or whatever his name was. Those kind of things. We aren't the quickest.

Roy Hodgson's expires at the end of the season and it is the model of plausibility that he will not be our manager next season.

We are in a situation where we have a manager with an expiring contract at the end of the season as well as players in the same boat.
