IMO - you’re wrong a younger Manager with fresh ideas and tactics would get far more out of this squad than Roy..!!

Every Manager including Roy wants to spend to improve their squad - where I don’t trust Roy is even when those resources are available to him - he doesn’t use them - it took him c.6 games to realise Eze should be starting every game if fit.

Look at yesterday he plays Ayew over Bats. Beyond that all season long we’ve defended too narrow - Roy knows he’s up against TAA and Robertson who will push on as fullbacks so you need to counter that - so play Townsend and Schlupp wide to cover back and protect Clyne and PVA - no he doesn't so we get gubbed big time..!!

It’s not me being wise after the event - it’s as plain as the nose on your face..!!

Roy’s time is run and as for giving him another 3 years - yeah good luck with that if you want to be Sunderland..!!

- it is probably more accurate to say that Eze needed time to settle into the squad and system. He said himself that there were things he needed to learn in the first weeks of the season.
- For all his wrong choices yesterday at least Ayew managed to get forward without being blown up for being offside regularly - Bats was offside on virtually every occasion in his brief appearance from the subs bench. He still can't time his runs properly. Is he ever going to?

Finally how do you know a younger manager with fresh ideas will get far more out of this (ageing) squad? It's simply your opinion. You may be right or you may be wrong. I tend to the latter view. As I've said before, until the club can identify a younger manager of the right calibre and experience to manage a PL team such as ours, we should stick with Roy who at least keeps us out of relegation trouble (unlike Howe could, for example).

Totally agree with you here. there is no way the ambitions of a 73 yr old manager can be the same with young buck players trying to make their way.
A hungry young manager can get much much more from our talented squad. if we are going to surrender to teams like Liverpool and find it OK, why not negotiate to just give them the 3 points and call off the match?

Experience trumps young bucks and if you don't understand that you need examining.

Yesterday’s result was awful and the club and back room staff will need to have a look at themselves. However, if Roy wants to stay on, I think the club would extend for another year.

Roy likes 4-4-2 which gives us a bit more up top and think we have played ok this season. At 1-0 yesterday we had two really good chances to score and equalise. Second half we fell apart. However, Roy has been criticised for being two defensive. We then play a bit more expansive and he gets criticised again. What approach do ppl prefer.

Also, which seems the biggest problem for the club. Who comes in. Howe - spent fortunes and got Bournemouth relegated
Dyche - his tactics are the same as Roy’s (if not more direct) and they are 8 points worse off than us
Frank - inexperienced and would be a risk at this level

Of all the alternatives, I’m happy with Roy.

yes, but I do feel a bit more thought should go into why Eddie Howe would fail because he had as much trouble with his team scoring as they did defending and the basis of his squad was sound, also he had many years of real success with a limited attraction compared to say us. I think he would be a decent manager for us and with the correct amount of authority behind him.

A little confused here, after the forth goal (I will say it again) the game was without any doubt finished as a contest, so up until then we could've ..should've been within touching distance although still behind them, we need to understand who we played and their standard of player and then throw in clinical, we are not clinical in any sense of the word.

Are you actually suggesting that our squad of players if fielded as you suggest would've caused that Liverpool side that played yesterday enough problems to allow us points?

Why do fans (of all clubs) want to change their managers so frequently?

Everybody want to get to the "next level" the only problem with that if a team goes up, another team has to come down.

Just because Roy is old doesn't make him a bad manager and just because somebody is young necessarily make them a good manager.

Re the league position, I have no doubt we are very close to where the bookies had us down to finish this season. We will win some we don't expect to and lose some we expect to win. It was ever thus.

As doombear said earlier without a massive cash injection, it is hard to know how Roy could do so very much better with tools available.

It’s a funny old world. Bielsa’s team gets a hiding every second week and he is genius and lauded by the media and fans. Roy gets a hiding and he’s the worst in the world.

That Leeds team will end up in a relegation scrap and we won’t come close to it.

On that basis, as we have the oldest manager then he must be the best in the world? I think a few would argue against that.

All sport evolves, Roy has his ideas that he has used to a reasonable level of success for 50 years with different levels of team. He has had opportunities to dominate with top teams but never has and top teams fans he has managed would say he is a poor manager. I don’t think he is a poor manager but I do think his ideas are outdated.

When you respond to people Tickled you don’t need to follow up your argument with an insult if they don’t agree with your way of thinking.

I am not so sure about that Eddie. The way they play they are just as likely to win 5-0 as they are to lose 5-0. Keeping away from draws is the answer to this league. This season you could probably win 12 and lose 26 and stay up.

you struggling to answer the question ? me too.

I think this sums up the different mindset of fans. What have we achieved? Not getting relegated, yay! Smacks of the lack of ambition and pathetically low expectations that a lot of fans are fed up with, me included. You make it sound like we're a charity and Roy is doing us a favour. What other Prem club would offer such an outdated manager the change to prolong his career in the top flight? Let's see when he finally chucks it in at Palace how long the queue is. He came in the steady the ship, and granted he did it, however it should have been a two-year stint max to stop us stagnating like we have.

I don't think Leeds will go down, but I wonder if their fans will be happy next season if they continue to get thrashed on a regular basis. Many of us enjoyed Pardew's brand of insanity, but eventually it doesn't matter how many chances you create or even score if you keep shipping large numbers of goals, or keep losing, especially against your rivals. Another issue is that I think I'm right in saying that Biesla's teams have a history of running out of steam towards the end of the season due to the way they play. Leeds' board will probably pump some more money into the club in January though and I think they'll finish probably somewhere between 12-15th.
