He always wax off for Mr Miyagi. I find that a little risqué.

and it seems Mr Miyagi was another slob actor who did 5 minutes karate training for the role.

typical hollywood. No doubt in the gym around the corner there is some japanese bloke , hard as nails....but got a sissy voice, can't remember his lines, and doesnt have an equity card.

it reminds me of the flabby middle aged Roger Moore playing James Bond. Looked like he spent his time at the pub happy-hour and the all day buffet, smoking 60 tabs a day. Comedy tough guy's are the best entertainment.

Moore was an amateur compared to Peter Wyngarde.

You don't take up a martial art to fight/become a bully. But Danyelson is just Hollywood.
When i did Tae Kwon Do 20 years ago, the instructor would come down hard on any higher standard belts deemed to be bullying lower belts during sparring.

This youtube clip shows how much restraint and discipline martial arts provides in real life.

They’re all funny so far but series 1 episode 5 is the funniest so far. The one where the advertising board gets graffitied at the start.

Johnny in the dojo is funny as.

Clever writing and timing on the ending of episodes.

Can’t believe I haven’t seen this before and only subscribed to Netflix 2 months ago. Netflix is (degenerate) ace.

I don’t know if you’ve seen any of Cobra Kai but you find out why Johnny Lawrence took up karate. He was still a spoilt kid but he didn’t intend to be a bully and wasn’t anyway. He got wound up by Daniel. They still wind each other up. This series has a few more layers than you expect.

It’s completely addictive Rudi. Corny as hell but then it kind of has to be. My 18 year old son and his mates watch it, probably for the teen cast whilst my mates and me watch more to see Daniel and Johnny.

In some ways it’s very clever, think Casual touched on this before but it’s often difficult to know who to route for.

Yes it is addictive and it’s cleverer than you’d think it would be. The writing and constant issues and subjects thrown in and comparisons to the ‘80s. The really funny bits are bits like when I think someone had a real food allergy and the skinny intelligent dork kid.

I haven’t got to the routing for anyone yet. I’m at the part where they’re winding each other up stage like in the film. Oh yes and the obvious and blatant repeats and parallels to the film aren’t annoying either.

Funny that the series is a way of bringing you and your son together, understanding each other or a shared interest. Another constant message in the series. I’m sounding like a loser. Sweep the leg.

If ever there was a series that should be sh&t it’s this, yet for some odd reason it works big time

my favourite bit is the Blonde karate teacher doing all that macho homophobic stuff and facing up to modern Political Correctness (& the legal compensation culture ) ....him looking totally stumped and confused.

hilarious.
