I will read Tom's points when I have a moment to go onto Twitter Did you read the comments from Sussex University or the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety? Now, maybe Tom knows things that they do not. I shall look into it. I have no idea what scientific studies he has done. My point remains the remarkable haste for us to break ranks with the EU, apparently against earlier detailed scientific analysis. And of course that some people in the UK stand to gain considerably by that quick change.

Did you read the comments from Sussex University or the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety?

Now, maybe Tom knows things that they do not. I shall look into it. I have no idea what scientific studies he has done.

My point remains the remarkable haste for us to break ranks with the EU, apparently against earlier detailed scientific analysis. And of course that some people in the UK stand to gain considerably by that quick change.

Reading briefly through that article from the Guardian about it being driven by the NFU, it does state that the relaxation of the ban is only for emergency use to treat a current outbreak of yellow virus, so seemingly not a total overturn on the usage of this stuff. Reading briefly through that article from the Guardian about it being driven by the NFU, it does state that the relaxation of the ban is only for emergency use to treat a current outbreak of yellow virus, so seemingly not a total overturn on the usage of this stuff.

I could be wrong but the way I'm reading the current Brexit legislation, is that if nicitinoids are used in UK farming then the produce would not meet the EU standards and couldn't be exported to the EU. Currently, loads of empty shelves in Ireland. My mate couldn't buy his cheap whiskey the other day! I always thought there was little profit in beet and it needed to be subsidised. I used to live near a Tate and Lyle beet processing plant, funny smell. I'm presuming beet has made a comeback due to the environment somehow already. Red and Blue Army!

I still maintain that we now have the chance to look at other ways to manage agriculture. This seems a retrograde step to me.

Note that the use of neonicotinoids means that the land is not allowed to be used for flowering crops for two years thereafter in an effort to minimise the effect on bees.
