I wouldn’t be surprised if Max isn’t replaced at all but instead we see Banks promoted to more first team squad appearances. Sadly, I believe it’s all about cutting costs now and that would represent a decent saving.

He was only a fringe player anyway so wouldn’t be a gamble.

170k a week according to the press or 8.7m a year. London’s googled average wage is 86400. So he was earning 100 people’s wages for not playing. Yet Arsenal make 50 redundant to save money. Football gone crazy.

But if we paid up his contract it doesn't save us anything at all as presumably we paid him the balance all in one go

Be interesting to see what happens with this young man's career now... Was it that he wasn't a Roy player or is there something underlying regarding his personality, attitude etc...

According to Roy a couple of weeks ago he was a model professional

Glad to see him off the wage bill but it’s still sad to see him depart. I think there’s a decent player in there somewhere. Can’t help thinking a different manager would have found a way to fit him in the team but I guess we’ll never know. It will be interesting to see what he does next.

More than twice that number - there are an awful lot of people in London earning considerably less than £40,000.

Thank the lord we have one dead weight off our books. He certainly wasn’t earning 170k a week but I for one will be happy to see the back of him. Has to go down as one of our worst signings taking into account the reputation he came with and the high wages he was being paid.

I would imagine this explains why we haven't seen him at all for some time now, as negotiations would have been going on about his leaving terms. Let's hope a sensible deal was concluded. In any event it's good news to see the back of him, as he wasn't up to PL standard. Hopefully we will seek a proper midfield playmaker in the summer.

The money saved can now go to keeping Benteke and Wickham for another year

Looks like its the best bit of business, we are going to do this window.

The lad was overhyped on his arrival and just didnt adapt to Premier football, it happens.
