The locally born people here are among the nicest I have found anywhere. They have a sense of history and pride but they are very willing to welcome you and share it. One of the most popular local pastimes are male voice choirs singing unaccompanied shanties and traditional songs. Think "Fisherman Friends". There are many such groups and they welcome everyone. Great to hear. The annual Falmouth sea shanty festival is a celebration of beer and singing in many pubs every night for a week. What's not to like?

I was referring to the Cornish independence mob.

All of that to be honest. The prospect of sitting in a pub being regaled with tales of comely maids from up Padstow way by some horny handed individuals in cable knit jumpers smelling of mackerel would make me recoil in horror.

Sitting in a pub with anyone and any story right now would be Brill.

I like the Cornish. They are very friendly in my experience.
I understand why they want to preserve their local way of life but any talk of genetic separatism is just not realistic. There are probably more Cornish genes outside Cornwall than in it.

Britain as a whole is losing its cultural identity and Cornwall's will probably survive longer than most.

Well genetics and a shared history are two different things really, they just happen to often be aligned. And outside of relatively broad visual judgements and what people tell us about themselves we have no way of knowing the specifics of any given persons ancestry anyway. No doubt some of these Cornish Pasties feel that their history and culture in Cornwall goes back far enough to make them different or separate in some special way and so they romanticise that view, just as we may romanticise our own history somewhat (aka past struggles, achievements and sacrifice that we personally had no hand in other than in celebrating or respecting them). People view Rachel Dolezal (American racial identity and civil rights activist who pretended to be black!) as nuts. Primarily because she is, but in our own way we all tend to opt into an archetypal identity much more than we simply 'are it'. Some just, intentionally or otherwise, take it to further extremes than others.

I know. They sing too. Actually, they don't want independence at all. What they seek is a gradual move towards holding more devolved responsibilities. Ultimately they would like to see Cornwall restored to the same kind of status it once held, similar to Wales or Scotland. It has already achieved a small step on that path having, since 2015, been the only County Council with significant direct responsibility for some areas of public spending.

The "Duchy" means something to people here.

I don't know if this is still happening but our local now does take-aways and often they wouldn't be cooked until you arrived to pick them up.

So during the first lockdown they served you a pint or two while you waited. Socially distanced of course and no hanging around the bar. Often outside too but real beer in the fairly close company of real people. It's more stringent now as our local case numbers have increased and I am being very cautious so haven't checked.

Yes, as far as I know now they aren't allowed to serve alcohol. That said I've lost track of the rules so who knows!

I want to emphasize this is not a post about racism in any manner. I am sure there will be one or two readers that will consider otherwise. If you are one you are 100% wrong. I am stating this up front because I have posted different topics in other forums and been lambasted by people that didn’t read the post or totally missed the point.

I am disturbed by the Black Lives Matter banners in the stadium. BLM are nothing more than a terrorist organization that coordinate and initiate riots, arson and looting at great expense to innocent business owners and communities. We’ve all seen the TV footage making it undeniable.

I understand that many are confused at the difference between BLM activities and the “Say No To Racism” campaigns. The goals of the Black Lives Matter organization go far beyond what most people think. But they are hiding in plain sight, there for the world to see. For instance who’s comfortable with Black Lives Matter founders’ claim that “we are trained Marxists”?

The BLM slogan “appears” as a plea to secure the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all Americans, especially historically wronged African Americans. Of course this misdirected philosophy is bleeding over into the UK.

BLM are the opposite ends of the moral spectrum to “Say No To Racism” but that does not make this post racist. But the name, Black Lives Matter, is racist because it (Black) excludes all others.

It is astonishing to me that (1) Palace would have these banners in the stadium, and (2) sponsors like eToro would want to add their names to it. I contacted eToro and they have failed to respond. Is their silence continued endorsement of BLM? Certainly sounds like it!

Did Palace receive sponsorship dollars for the BLM banners or is it free exposure? Either way is wrong.

As the banners are still there, the conclusion can be drawn that terrorism is something that Palace management and the all the sponsors fully and outwardly support. Personally I would not purchase any product or service from any of these BLM banner sponsors, would you?

If Steve Parish and all individuals on the management team didn’t support BLM these would never have been installed in the first place. The CPFC heritage is giving credibility to terrorists while drastically reducing that of Palace.

Out of loyalty, I would like to give benefit of the doubt to Palace management and presume they are totally unaware of the real destructive activities and philosophy of BLM. Although deep down, I doubt their naivety in the situation.

I have contacted Palace through the website twice and directly to Steve Parish once through LinkedIn with absolutely no response. That’s dissappointing to say the least! What does their silence indicate?

I grew up in West Norwood but now live in Southern California and get to see all the games live on live TV here in the US. Is this negative association with terrorism the branding that Palace wants to project, not only to South London, but to rest of the WORLD through TV? Surely not.

I have been a Palace fan since the 60s, and although not a financial owner of the club, I feel that I am an emotional owner. I am sure most fans, if not all, feel the same way. After all, the club wants and needs that emotional attachment with fans so we keep purchasing game tickets, season tickets, and Palace branded merchandise such as shirts, scarves and jackets. A connection with BLM will no doubt put a dent in the emotional attachment of fans and consequently loss of revenue streams.

It will take some time for somebody to connect the dots and realize the root cause of revenue losses. Based on their actions so far I would expect Palace to raise all prices across the board to compensate for the loss of unit sales. Of course, this is a band aid approach, that is likely to reduce unit sales even further in the future.

Palace continued deliberate endorsement of terrorism in any way, shape or form is the club thumbing their noses at thousands of us dedicated fans, including the readers of these forums, that have supported the team over the years through thick and thin.

I can’t be the only Palace fan that feels this way.

You’re not!
There is a thread about it already which is also about the players kneeling before matches too.
There are some players that have spoken about it incl Townsend and Lyle Taylor of Nottm Forrest but they still carry on with it.

Don’t wish to sound patronising but as this is your first post on here you may not be aware that this topic has been discussed to death.

I believe most agree with you, but not all.

Anyway, welcome to the forum.

PS: are you Mikes brother?
