Historically minorities have voted for Democrats. They understandable though as Democrats have courted them whereas contrary to your stance I believe that Republicans have had more to gain by nudging in the opposite direction. As demographics change, strategy does too. Racial minorities won't uniformly all vote in alignment as that process pans out. We're not going to have having 12 or 16 years of the same party in power in my view. The pendulum will move this way and that as it always has.

The noises he was putting out were often very 'go home'. That may well change when the party realise the numbers won't otherwise add up. I accept that he have success on the jobs front.

I don't see this as being a realistic outcome anytime soon. At least not for decades. I wouldn't like to guess beyond that as I do accept that the future can be very uncertain in a variety of ways. Granted immigration can change a country over time, but all in all I quite like the set up of the US rather than UK. States can in many ways take their own approach within reason and have their own character, so there's always somewhere for people to fit in regardless of their outlook.

I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't be totally surprised that my descendants will be speaking Russian or some Eastern European language in a hundred years from now.

I agree with that statement, though tend to leave the possibility that change will be gradual enough that we won't see States going their own way. I'm not sure that it's something the country would allow anyway, especially if it was just one or two states wishing to do so, so I guess your premise is that it would be several states acting in unison at some point. Time will tell!

That raises a good more general point about language really. In an ultra connected world, countries with their own language have an automatic advantage in keeping other influences out.

I have been to America many times on business and pleasure one personal observation I would make about the "average" American is how polite they are. This may not come across when there are demos etc or you are watching trailer trash.

It occurs to me that many of them would be offended by Trumps antics even if they agreed with his policies which might partially explain why he lost.

TBF Wissie gives as good as he gets but his pompous know-all attitude gets people’s backs up. Everyone is entitled to their opinion be it on politics football etc but for him to just call opposite opinions bs or those expressing the views stupid on a regular basis leaves him open to criticism imo
