Historically minorities have voted for Democrats. They understandable though as Democrats have courted them whereas contrary to your stance I believe that Republicans have had more to gain by nudging in the opposite direction. As demographics change, strategy does too. Racial minorities won't uniformly all vote in alignment as that process pans out. We're not going to have having 12 or 16 years of the same party in power in my view. The pendulum will move this way and that as it always has.

The noises he was putting out were often very 'go home'. That may well change when the party realise the numbers won't otherwise add up. I accept that he have success on the jobs front.

I don't see this as being a realistic outcome anytime soon. At least not for decades. I wouldn't like to guess beyond that as I do accept that the future can be very uncertain in a variety of ways. Granted immigration can change a country over time, but all in all I quite like the set up of the US rather than UK. States can in many ways take their own approach within reason and have their own character, so there's always somewhere for people to fit in regardless of their outlook.

I think the demographic shift is the dynamic that changes all the equations.

If the traditionally red states don't manage to organise non compliance with Biden then the US eventually becomes majority hispanic...which means socialism.....Essentially little different from central America and probably with the same future prospects.

One part of me says well, in that case Europeans should just return to their historical homelands.....but of course, by then they wouldn't be aren't allowed to run them anymore either.

I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't be totally surprised that my descendants will be speaking Russian or some Eastern European language in a hundred years from now.

Wisbech is no more 'ganged' up on as anyone else with strong views is 'ganged' up on. We just have 'Q' believers 'ganged' up on....were you complaining about that?

Personally I hardly reply to Wisbech anymore and many times he's replying to posts directed at other people.

Could you contact Twitter and ask them to take this stuff down, or is that easier said than done? Social networks are more trouble than they're worth, even without this kind of thing!

I agree with that statement, though tend to leave the possibility that change will be gradual enough that we won't see States going their own way. I'm not sure that it's something the country would allow anyway, especially if it was just one or two states wishing to do so, so I guess your premise is that it would be several states acting in unison at some point. Time will tell!

That raises a good more general point about language really. In an ultra connected world, countries with their own language have an automatic advantage in keeping other influences out.

I contacted them and they removed my photo, which is something I suppose.

For the last time. Nick was not hounded out. He got himself banned by antagonizing the moderators. Out of spite, he then attempted to damage the site by whining to the sponsors. He tried a similar thing with Comrades after being banned from what is the easiest going Palace site available, which just happens to be run by a communist.

That is the guy you are praising.

Who is this communist? And is he a communist as properly defined, or a liberal socialist etc.?

And are you suggesting that this news/politics section of this site is, on balance, "leftist". Clearly, it's left of you - everything and everybody is.

And I am aware that left and right are tricky terms to properly define (leave it Stirling!). However...

I see on here a small handful of those with left leaning ideas who tend to post reasonably and with thought (although perhaps one needs to pick his battles and not take every bait); and a mass of right wingers who outnumber and out post them by some margin but are divided by a more or less equal number who counter balance the lefty views with equally considered and erudite righty thoughts; and then, sadly, a significant cohort of shouty, aggressive, bullying types who generally spout views regurgitated from the Tory press, or "misc" far right sources or, more worryingly, from their own original thoughts.

It's a question of how much can people successfully push back against globalism in terms of its control over their lives and environment.

It occurs to me that many of them would be offended by Trumps antics even if they agreed with his policies which might partially explain why he lost.

Hit the nail on the head there Badger!

I just see when people are piling in on someone, it was nick and noticed wisbech gets same treatment, i didn"t realise he says bs-thought him more a willo character, but replies sometimes come back the same as the questioner put them.

Indeed they do but bs has become an expression more common in his replies and I must say often, not always, when replying to perfectly civil posts.
