Sorry I have to disagree but am more than willing to be corrected.

My understanding of the issue in Glasgow was that they decided to approach the issue as though it were one of a public health crisis and took a multi-agency approach. They decided to try to identify kids in advance who might be most at risk and whilst every case was different, one consistent factor was the lack of adult supervision. Nobody to ask where they were going, who they were going out with, what they had in their pockets and so on.

Once potential risk kids were identified they were targetted. Social services intervention programmes designed to break up the structure of gangs etc along with, and here is where it gets problematic, targetted stop and search by the Police. When these kids were seen out on the streets they stopped and searched. Purely based on this profiling.

And it worked. An incredible success. Yes, there are differences between London and Glasgow but I am confident that the basic tools of the approach would work in London as well.

I know of local councillors who went up to Scotland to take to the people involved and wanted to try similar approaches down here but found themselves being blocked from doing so on no other grounds other than the fact that issue in London is primarily involving black kids.

Black kids are being allowed to die because of their skin colour. I see zero other reason for it. Actual, real racism of the most murderous kind.

But I am all ears as to why I am wrong.

The racism occurs because a proven formula with regards to dealing with this issue is not being implemented because of skin-colour.

That is actual racism. Treating people differently because of the pigmentation of their skin.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!
