In today's Times they publish an Opta stat showing how many goals were prevented by current keepers.

Nick Pope leads with plus 6.9 goals but guess who props up the list with MINUS 8.5 goals ?

Our very own Vicente.

Stats sometimes lie but I think this shows how Guaita current form has lapsed, despite some marvellous saves of late.

Alex McCarthy is second bottom with minus 6.2

Allison is 6th which is hard to fathom after gifting two to Man City yesterday!

Correlation between contract discussions with thoughts of return to Spain; and agreement for long term stay?

Also we shifted stacks of goals over a short period. Many in one game. From memory I don't think any keeper would have saved any of them. Is that fairly reflected in those stats?

While it's true that he hasn't been faultless, the fact is that he has not had a settled central pairing in front of him all season.

Anyone know what these stats actually mean?

Is the positive score - shots keeper had no right to save but did?

Negative score - keeper errors or shots that should have been saved?

If so, it seems a bit subjective.

I would say definitely not, it also indicates bad naughty defending resulting in allowing the opposition the time to size up, not really the fault of the keeper.

Without him they'd be much nearer the bottom today and quite possibly already in the championship.

Last season prior to the pandemic (3/20) by the same metric he was the top keeper in Europe.

I'm glad we re-signed him.

last season i remember a couple of terrible errors - sheff utd at home and Leicester away spring to mind, but this season i can only think of the Spurs game when the ball moved in flight and he redeemed it with 2 incredible saves late on.

He needs to be more dominating at crosses, in particular set pieces, but on the whole i think he's having a really good and consistent season.

Pickford usually 'tops' these tables and he's still England's No 1. Just saying.

With a soild defence in front of him a keeper will have fewer shots to save. With our geriatric defence, God help him!
