It would appear that many of our supporters are clamouring for change, for a more attractive brand of football, but change on the managerial 'Throne' comes with risk and the 'Board' with commercial interests consider the 'Bigger picture'.

When an experienced manager has provided PL security season on season, and of course many outside the club assert he guarantees survival, then why change?

Leeds have only just returned to the PL having last played there in 2003-04, Nottm Forest's last season in the PL was 1998-99.One can spend a long time outside the top division with empty seats very much in evidence!

Why does change come with risk? I would say persistence with the same manager comes with risk. I really do not understand this obsession with Roy being the only manager that can keep this team in the PL.

Mr Hodgson is proven in that he has kept us in the PL and it is likely that we will be in the PL again next season. On the balance of risk he is trusted to ensure PL survival.
I accept some of the football has been turgid but when I peruse the league table I see some 'Daylight' between us and those in the relegation zone.

As you keep on saying and yet all of us watch this unadulterated crap week in and week out, complaining along the way (yourself included) but don’t think anything should be done about it. People don’t like change and are frightened of change, it’s as simple as that.

I'm in the Roy Out camp. Recent posts about Euro 2016 and the defeat to Iceland remind me that when we went 2-0 down, we never looked like getting back into it. Rashford was our best player but he only came on with about 6 minutes to go. How many similar performances have we seen at Palace?

The writing has been on the way for three seasons now and it gets worse as each season go by.

I don't fit into this category.
The style of football is just part of the 'Jigsaw'.

I have always maintained that if Mr Hodgson departs, leaving a club to contest in the PL once more, there will be a degree of perturbance amongst quite a few of our supporters given his track record, but of course others will be delighted in the expectancy we will play free-flowing "High octane" football.

Maybe matters will become clearer in the not too distant future!

Willo, is there any facet of Hodgson's management you would like to change?
What in your opinion have been his mistakes in his time at Palace for elements within his control?
To say you accept his management 'in the round'and to provide a list of extenuating circumstances would surely indicate a total unwillingness to criticise Hodgson at all, even constructively.
Open minded debate should really be the order of the day.

Oh come on, you know it runs much deeper than this. Playing a different style doesn’t necessarily mean moving from the sublime to the ridiculous. There are all manner of changes that a new manager can make including shape, transition, attacking tactics, early tactical substitutions, seeing different things in different players, having a different approach to youth, fitness regimes, the list is pretty endless. So just to say that fans want to see free flowing high octane football is not really fair on fans who are asking to see change.

When Mr Hodgson was appointed I engaged in conversation with a few people and to a man they commented that he would guarantee PL survival with his experience and the manner he organises his teams.
When we went 7 games without a win and without a goal being scored, a PL 'First', I began to question their judgement. The rest as they say is history.

Of course we would all like to see free-flowing football played with energy and vigour but one has to have the players to play in this manner.I don't believe that Mr Hodgson is averse to an expansive game but he does like structure, shape, particular distances between the lines etc etc.

He has been much criticised in recent times for the dour football served up to supporters but I cannot get away from the fact that we are left with a "Dad's Army" squad who are finding it particularly challenging as the advancement of years has coincided with an unusual season with fixture congestion on top of a limited pre-season.

In the final analysis, despite a paltry 'Net spend' of
£10 Mill, Mr Hodgson has kept us in the hallowed PL season on season and for that he deserves real praise.
He might reflect himself that in hindsight, on occasions, he might have made different decisions but we all fall into that category!

For avoidance of doubt I was not criticising our supporters.
I full recognise that many want a change from what we have been 'Served' and I have been very critical of a number of performances making my feelings known in no uncertain terms on HOL !

Of course different managers have different philosophies and live or die by results. The results under Mr Hodgson have ensured we are now in our 4th season in the PL under him and it is highly likely we will once again be in the PL next campaign.

I can only reiterate that Mr Hodgson might have reflected on numerous occasions that in hindsight he would have made different decision in terms of team selection, substitutes etc.
I have formed a view during games whereby I haven't agreed with the manager and not been shy to make it known!

Finally I do feel as though I am acting as Mr Hodgson's 'Defence lawyer' !

As long as it isn’t change for the sake of change. We are one of a long list of , clubs , that go sooner or later between Premier and championship, There are three of them stuck in the bottom three right now. It isn’t wrong to want bright entertaining football, but most of the clubs in the long list ,have tried to achieve just that and it hasn’t stopped them being on the list, and spending two much time in the Championship. Most have experimented with multiple Changes of manager ,and so called nice to watch entertaining football, all to often leading to disaster. So it’s all very well pleading for new management , but all of those clubs similar to us show it is an exceptional case when it all goes well for very long.
I think Hodgson, could call it a day at his age, maybe should, it’s inevitable anyway especially if the support don’t appreciate what he has done here, but that doesn’t alter what he has done. Hodgson has kept us at the top or near the top of that list, it would be great to be in that position having hardly ever played dull to win, but the odds are heavily against no matter who gets Hodgson,s job.
