But he must realise that staying on is only tainting his good reputation.

It wont be easy but he should now retire gracefully.

Man and boy Palace since my first game in 1948 sitting on my dad's shoulders

That could be right. He should have done the same as Pulis, and fat Sam, And not got his hands dirty. As these pages show he won’t get to much in the way of thanks, even if he should keep us up for another year or not.

It’s debatable whether it’s him who keeps us up.
That accolade should perhaps go to Zaha.
In the 20 or so games he hasn’t featured we’ve only won 2 and haven’t managed to score in something like 16 of them.
I’d be more confident with Zaha without Hodgson than Hodgson without Zaha if a choice had to be made.

There are 4.5 million reasons why he'll stay as long as possible.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I would hope they would pay off his contract which expires in June.

Unless, of course, we are more skint than we imagine.

The only time one notices him is when he is flagged for offside which is often.

Yes. Roy lacks the pace to play in Zaha’s position but I think he could probably fill in for Benteke..... and maybe a few others in the team!

It’s probably one of the biggest problems , any manager has got.
Working with a sub standard group, yet not being able to highlight that fact , for the obvious reason it would automatically destroy any morale left in that group to work with.
It could be said Hodgson, has asked for the negative attitude of a lot of the so called support, simply by agreeing to work in this sort of situation.I think that could have happened because, he was never going to work else where at his age, and this is his boyhood club, It’s somewhat natural he would want to help them out in these circumstances.
Someone here commented on Roy’s facial expression Saturday, it was resignation , I wouldn’t be surprised if the face showed what the voice could not say. They are crap, and beyond help..What’s on the bench? More of the same.
I think Roy has done as much as he can , or anyone else for that matter, with this lot, he should walk, but he won’t, because of what I have already stated.

Your last para sums up the situation in a very accurate and informative way. Roy is doing the best he can with the players he has available, which was largely players put together by other Manage and it's clear the current age profile and quality is just not there for the standards in this league. I think Parish has let him down in terms of investment in the first team squad over several seasons now. The situation has been further exacerbated by the renewal of contracts for both Benteke and Wickham which were as I understand were handled by Parish himself. Our DOF who is responsible for identifying players seems incapable of doing that job and frankly although it is probably time for Roy to retire who on this earth would want a job at this club under the current ownership!
