Well done Wilf.
This started in the USA and has now gone full circle and although a good idea should be put gently to bed.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

To be honest, I'm scared if he takes the knee when he comes back his hamstring will pop again.

it's become a bit token - I have the utmost respect for army veterans but I don't wear the poppy - these things get over-simplified to pro and anti and bullsh*t runs riot. I'd like to see a genuinely intelligent debate on the subject, but it won't happen. I've heard 'bleeding heart liberals' describe their own personal battles against 'their own racism' - they mean they have to rise above the instant judgements we tend to make, but there is an element of truth to stereotypes and that's where it gets awkward trying to break it down into what is 'racist' and what is joining the dots about someone prematurely. I had a run in with a big fat greedy lawyer a few years back, he conformed to the 'Shylock' stereotype, I hated him purely on grounds of his vile character, but honestly and privately I understood then that these stereotypes have a history and go deep, exclusivity develops over generations and gets reinforced, but it's impossible to tackle these issues without being accused of being racist or 'hard left' - it turns into a shouting match - anyway good on Wilf for being an individual.

Wilf is right. As a black person I can also see it is propaganda and marxist - leninist propaganda. I can be proud to be black without kneeling thank you very much.

Big up the Palace!!!!

I keep seeing people saying statements like that but I'm not sure what they mean? Do you mean by taking the knee it is an attempt to derail the imbalance of power and return the means of production to the proletariat? I can see the argument for saying it is in fact those in power trying to give the illusion of giving a rat's arse about equality when all they really want is to sustain their eye-watering profits...but obviously that isn't Marxism, that would be capitalism adapting (as it generally does so well) to the zeitgeist.

Interestingly, Zaha speaks about Rashford and efforts at real social change which do in fact align more with Marxist sympathies, that being a redistribution of wealth. Maybe in fact Zaha, Brentford and QPR are the real Marxist threat

I think the point has now been made. If i were a black person i would find it a bit patronising. I would never take the knee for anybody unless i was being knighted lol and i would not expect or want anybody to take the knee for me as well. I hope this does not split the dressing room though,as we have many black players

While I disagree with choice of not wearing a Poppy I support your right to choose whole-heartily. Your other points you make I agree with.

I had just considered the other players. For instance, I believe Townsend is big into BLM. Does that mean an argument in the squad? Probably does these days.

It's a good question. You would hope that Wilf would have discussed this with his teammates prior to speaking to the press, but I am not overly confident he will have done. It is a hard one as although I imagine most of us support Wilf in his decision, at the same time does that mean we should dismiss those black players who still think it is important for taking the knee to continue? Are their voices not valid too? Brentford seem to have done the right thing in making the decision as a club. The worry in this case is that it could alienate Wilf if other players are not on board, or feel he has put them in a difficult position.
