It's a good question. You would hope that Wilf would have discussed this with his teammates prior to speaking to the press, but I am not overly confident he will have done. It is a hard one as although I imagine most of us support Wilf in his decision, at the same time does that mean we should dismiss those black players who still think it is important for taking the knee to continue? I don't think anybody should be dictated to as to what they should do based on the colour of their skin, each man has a right to make his own choice and form his own opinions. You would hope common sense prevails and this attitude is adopted so as not to cause rifts. I think Spyros original comments allude to this re: 'marxist propoganda'. It could be an opinion to say that the left like to hijack such things as kneeling, BLM etc. for their own agendas. This is of course where we see some of the most extreme forms of racism, such as white self-proclaimed leftists screaming in the faces of black policeman or attacking black people who don't support the 'right' (no pun intended) political parties etc, - telling them what they should be doing or thinking, you know, because they're black. I think BLM the organisation, not the movement, because they are so obviously to completely different things and it's flabbergasting anyone would ever conflate them, actually define themselves as 'communist' also. Can't speak for Spyro though, that was just my take on it.

I never thought I'd live to hear the name of a Palace player mentioned in the headlines at the start of Radio 4's 1 o'clock news. As I heard the words "Crystal Palace player Wilf Zaha" I immediately assumed that he'd been transferred for some incredible sum - not that Radio 4 would ever report such a thing in one of its main news programmes. Panic over.

I doubt few on either side of the argument have ever picked up a copy of Das Kapital or even the Communist Manifesto, which is why I find all the "Marxist Propaganda" statements distracting. This shouldn't really be a political conversation at all anyway, racism is clearly just wrong and most on both sides agree with that. Both the left and right have used it to push their agendas, with both sides feeling they are victims, and neither side seemingly seeing any real change in the landscape. What should have happened is the football authorities should have decided when it would end and then communicated clearly why they are stopping it and what they will be doing to bring about real change. By leaving it in somewhat of a grey area we are left with the danger of this becoming yet another battleground when really we should all just be coming together like a bunch of motherf*cking care bears and ripping the racists a new one.

Agreed. I would like to think most the vast majority will support anything that improves the situation but beyond the criminalising of racist activity which had already been done, it’s hard to see what else there can be done to stop it, if an individual is such inclined to commit a crime there’s not much stopping them. Whether they kneel or stand, no matter my opinion of it, and regardless of ethnicity, as palace players they’ll still always be cheered on by me as will fellow fans feel like family members. I hope that’s a start at least. COYP

Therefore , there isn’t an argiemrnt related to not taking a knee for anybody except for that special moment when knighted. If you was ‘black’ the taking of the knee at the start of the initiative was welcomed (aside the politics) and well debated. Wilf and players would’ve had numerous conversations related to who is backing taking the knee or not for wah revere reasons. There wouldn’t be any (black)players in the first team squad who didn’t know Wilfs stance before he came out with it.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Why did it need a black man to tell what is now seen as the truth and be agreed with by the very people who have castigated whites for saying the same. When fans booed could it have been for this very reason. They thought It had lost the message,but no they are apparently all racists. Many white footballers,actors or generally famous people probably felt the same but have been afraid to say because of the backlash. Now wilfs said it its correct. Equality my left one!

Last time I looked, his dad was running the anti racism movement which does far better more positive things than taking the knee. The knee has become just like Wilf said. I bet football will listen and follow. I give it less than a month. Wilf can grow publicly on the back of this. He will do more for equality than the knee. Top player top man.
