Basically yes. Hodgson sets us up to defend for our lives every week without one ounce of interest in attacking. Suicidal tactics but now and again he's going to get lucky like he did last night and thats down to the players scoring 2 goals from 2 shots on target. He most definitely doesn't set us up to win games even if he thinks he does. The man has instilled a mentality in most of those players that could literally ruin a player, he's also destroyed any enjoyment and excitement for most fans for the past 2 years. Obviously we all went mad when that goal went in but for me even a last second goal against them at their own place was missing something and its because of him. I will celebrate harder than I did last night when I see a massive headline that says "Hodgson leaves Palace"

Joe Joe Joe we will be playing the fast, high pressing attacking game that you want before long..... in the Championship!!!!

I think Roy set us up yesterday with the players available in the correct way but the system was massively flawed because of our shocking ball retention and the massive gaps from midfield to Mateta.

Eze, Riedewald and Mitchell were so so poor on the ball last night it was hard viewing. I know Mitchell is a young lad but I really hope we are looking at signing a new left back with him as back up for now.

Are you claiming yesterday's result was down to the manager?

Two touches in the opposition area?

Yes.

We scored more than them.

Roy probably keeps us up again, with little investment and still you moan.

Eze and Riedewald are two of our more accomplished ball players.
The way of playing demonstrated last night totally negates their strengths.
You may as well employ a couple of scrappers from the championship who will probably perform the role better.
Still on Cloud 9 after the win, but it doesn’t mask the ugliness or fortune of it and the issues remain for all to see.

Roy should be very grateful for a world class performance from Cahill. He single handedly stopped us losing heavily.

Let's keep the ball this season!

The inference being that you would not wish to see Mr Hodgson on the managerial 'Throne' next season.

Perhaps he will feel it will be time to call it a day and retire with dignity in the knowledge that he met his objective and kept us in the PL season after season so he will be leaving on a 'High'.

I think so too. It really is about time you 'Outers' gave up on this distasteful campaign and accepted the fact that Roy is unlikely to leave his club until at least the end of his contract.

Just bask in the fact that we're in a strong position in the world's greatest football league, less than one win behind Arsenal, and we'll still be here next season.

Mr Parish will employ a replacement who he considers will bring flair and glory to our club. Of course, after last night he may decide he wants to keep Roy on for another year. Better the devil you know an' all that.

In any event this thread is now dead in the water.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Your right Eddie, their Dutch wing back had Mitchell on toast in the first half, but in the second he got closer to him but wasn’t close enough for the equaliser

Brighton’s play in the second half seem to be coming down the left , Joe Wards side of the pitch.

"It is unbelievable. They are getting away with it," said Brighton defender Joel Veltman. "It feels like a robbery of our points".

Even the pundits were shocked that we won. They had countless attacks and shots at our goal compared to ours' 4 at theirs. Frankly, I would have accepted a point when Brighton equalised at the 55 mins. Thanks to Benteke's sucker punch.

I am exceptionally grateful for what Roy has achieved in his time with us and on a horrible shoestring budget, and I see him as our second best manager in my time supporting the club (nearly 50 years).

I would like to see him retire with his head held high and the club in a good solid position. However, something feels like we have to hit the reset button, even if it means going down. The football we play has become so turgid and so many players are near the end of being able to play at this level. If we think we can extract another season like this and last with Roy at the helm and virtually no investment we could well become the next Sunderland or Stoke, where it all caught up with a ageing squad.

The board needs to acknowledge it needs a major investment this summer and that's the time to try and change the playing style and probably manager. I don't think we'll get away with another season of the same, renewing a few contracts and replacing others with freebies.

If we beat Fulham, I would part like to see it be announced that Roy is retiring at the end of the season and his replacement will be ?.

It was not a tactical masterclass, but I think it probably was the only way we were going to win last night with our horrific injury list. Very different to the 1-1 draw earlier in the season where we had the personnel to do more.

Tekkers put it perfectly when he said after the game that the players knew they needed to be solid defensively, even though it was a tough watch. The way we were overrun in the last two games I do think for once that Roy was fully justified in setting up the way he did. Also despite 25 shots on goal how many clear sights did Brighton actually create? It's not like they hit the woodwork or fluffed sitters. The players almost literally built a 90-minute wall. Roy also made the decision to play Andros down the left and Ayew down the right (he obviously read my team suggestion pre-match) which produced both goals. He picked Mateta which was vindicated, and brought Tekkers on to get the winner.

Last night was all about the result at this stage of the season, and the fact it was Brighton, but it doesn't really gloss over the fact that we have been awful to watch for the best part of two years and this season some might say we have had a large helping of good fortune. Roy can say stats don't win games, which is true, but it would be nice for once to have a happy ending without feeling like it's been achieved with sandpaper.
