I cannot imagine what would attract any manager to undertake the £4.5m p.a. role at CPFC.

It's not a fact in the sense that a copy of the contract has been seen by myself but 2.5 to 4.5 are oft quoted numbers from most sources so is likely in the ballpark

I doubt a shortage of applicants at 2.5

Let me check my " give a flying f***ometer "on Jonathan Pearce's opinion of the attractiveness of managing CPFC as a job. As I suspected, not a flicker of the needle.

Perhaps we should poll some other commentators for balance.

Pearce commentates on us and has for years. He is as qualified to have an opinion like all of us. Because some disagree doesn't make them wrong.

Maybe not, but what about the corporate supporters - the box holders? the advertisers? the sponsors? any of those too could well be put off by the reputation for the poorest standard of football in the division. They are responsible for quite a bit more money going into the club.

But they will be certainly be put off if we are in the Championship or League1. This current way of playing is not forever but in my opinion with this squad and injury list it is the way we should be playing to keep us in the division. Trying to attack with our slow midfield and defence was very to dragging us into the bottom 3.

So the game was derided by the BBC and its commentary team and rightly so, but was the Chelsea v Man Utd any better? NO it wasn’t it was dire too, yet these teams had their best 11 on the pitch.

We have now worked our way into a safe position within a week, sure we have got some tough fixtures coming, but is anyone setting the world alight apart from Man City? Again it’s a big fat NO!

All the games coming up are a free hit now and we will get a few more points. Until we have the fans back in the stadiums we are going to get some strange results and our players will definitely go up a gear when they have the fans backing.

Am I seeing things differently to anyone else or are we just plain bad from top to bottom?

It's one of those so called facts that has been repeated so often on HOL that people now assume that it's fact.

I expect that Roy was photographed showing his payslip to a journalist

Well to be fair to Mr Gribbo, that is exactly what is "sensible business". We are now good at avoiding relegation, which is great business. Risk taking is not. Rebuilding from a business perspective need to be done conservatively. And I hate all that.

We are not just avoiding relegation though, since he's been with us although not keen on the eye we have been very safe from the trap door, it's just recently since this Covid that we've been struggling with increased consistency with our ability to complete a pass and move accordingly ..injuries to key players and not having the needed time to recover from each game and the inconsistency with these games is going to have detrimental effect on our squad purely through their ages, Burnley have been having the same issues and their squad is very much similar in this respect, we have always been a squad that soaks up pressure and attacks at will, players are needed to address this if we want to play more keep ball.

I thought the inference from Pearce was that there is a declining group of players, uncertainty at Boardroom level, a history of behaving like a load of fannies in the transfer market notwithstanding COVID and two high profile names have walked from the job.

It goes without saying there’ll be applicants but if their sole motivation is money they may not be of the calibre we”d hope.

No, you're completely right, Man.C have huge massive resources ..look at their bench lol they are practically taking the piss with everyone, Leicester are mortally damaged by just removing a few key players, us by removing one ..look at the difference Bale made to Spurs and he's been resting nice and fresh to bring on, Burnley like us are totally knackered even though they beat us easily at home the very early goal did us as it did them at Spurs. Everyone is having issues with this Covid apart from Man.C who have the best squad and by far the strongest bench.

Everyone entitled to an opinion of course, but his job is to commentate on the game I would suggest, not opine on the prospects of us being able to attract a manager.

Yes, we have the oldest squad in PL, we have a lot of injuries, but still - STILL - as fans we should expect better from well-paid professionals than we have seen the last three games.
At least being able to pass to a teammate, at least try to get the ball into the opposition's box = not expecting miracles from our defenders over and over again.
