I'll nip out and buy a card tomorrow if you all want to sign it. I'll also be having a whip-round so we can buy him a carriage clock from H.Samuels.

We'll all walk into his office and surprise him holding plastic glasses full of Lambrini.

He'll probably make a speech along the lines of 'I'm really going to miss all of you' whilst thinking 'thank feck I'll never have to clap eyes on that bunch of w@nkers again' and trying to keep his false smile going.

Lambrini..
the expensive stuff, I remember it (80s?) sort of cheaper then cava, pissed out with white vinegar knicker lever.
drunk by the pint.

Honestly, no. Just seems a pity if fans have no opportunity to show appreciation for what he's done for our club.

Whilst i find the style being served up somewhat frustrating, I agree with you POG, hes done what he was brought in for and a bit more.
Wouldnt it be nice though, if with a few games left, once mathematically safe, he threw caution to the wind & went at a few opposition teams, also blooding a couple of our upcoming younger stars.
if only.

Well I’m not sure gratitude to Roy is needed as he is getting paid handsomely for doing a job he loves. I have more gratitude and empathy for the nhs in these very testing times.

I have more appreciation for him than I had for Fat Sam and Tony Pulis say, who just plain suited themselves and had no real loyalty to the club and fans at all.

I hope they fail miserably and to my enjoyment, they are...

Roy will still be here next season so there will be plenty of chances to wish him good luck.

This is so classless. What’s money got to do with showing respect?

He’s paid mega bucks to manage a team in the biggest global sports business watched and scrutinised by billions which comes with high pressure and stress. He’s the oldest man to ever do it and still plugging away and is a local lad finishing his career with his boyhood club.

For the record, I’ve recently moved to the Roy out camp, but if fans can’t appreciate what a fantastic job he has done on the whole, they need to have a reassessment.

He deserves a lot of gratitude not just from Palace fans, but all fans for his contribution to game we all love. It will be very sad if Covid causes an empty stadium for his last ever game.

Heres an honest question for you all..
Whilst I most certainly apprecaite retaining our prem. status, at the hands of steady Roy, say he was 10 plus years younger, and he was to stay that ten further years, would you want to see another 10 years of what we've had over the last few years.
What kills me is the cup games, thrown to the wind.
As the thread title states, gratitude to Roy, for sure for staying up again, but the style of footy..

Are you suggesting that our squad remains the age it is now whilst he is ten years younger, that's just silly talk.

You can't just say that, you have to inform why you've done that, are you now thinking it's all his fault?

He has a soft spot for us, if I knew he didn't then I'd be a lot different in supporting him.

I don't think a decision has been made on who will be manager next season. I'd prefer him to be here than the Swansea manager, and that from somebody who mooted FdB prior to his appointment

Obviously SP would be nervous of making decision with a lot of fans up in arms. My philosophy is don't buy a season ticket if your unhappy. Probably better to let Roy to transition from old guard to new guard - could be a tricky pre season otherwise

I've shaken the dust covers off this post I started in March because it now looks almost certain Roy will wave goodbye when his contract ends.

I can't get to Selhurst next Wednesday, but I do hope those of you who can will give Roy the send-off he deserves.

He's Palace through and through and has served us well. He deserves a loud cheer of support and thanks.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I think we will give him a very good sendoff on Wednesday. I's done an excellent job for us in difficult circumstances.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
