No they don't but we are talking about migration and not simply visitors. I don't doubt some visitors don't go home but, so far as I am aware, all have to hold a return ticket and many have to have a local sponsor who puts up a deposit which is forfeit if they don't leave, and then held responsible until they do.

I wouldn't think this is a major issue these days.

Dependant Relative Visa Applicants do not have to pass a test

Whilst we were in the EU free movement was a golden rule but I thought that was obvious.

Proving you are truly a dependent relative cannot be very easy and, I am guessing, must only apply to a handful. Showing compassion for such people is surely justified if not to do would leave them uncared for?

How wrong you are. Not all visitors have to have a r/t, even if they did the cost would be worth it for a new life. Have you seen how cheap some tickets are now? Not every visitor needs a sponsor either. Arriving passengers purporting to be visitors are still very much a problem as they always have been. Sorry only going by 30+ years of experience and wife still doing the job but I may be wrong.

Once you have arrived it is almost impossible to get rid if you are determined to stay. They know that and so do their shyster lawyers.

Wrong again. EEA family permits was one of the most abused forms of entry. Read my post again, they did not have to satisfy most of the criteria British Citizens did and no fee for the privilege.
You appear to be talking about dependant relatives, I was not, totally different scenarios. Overstayers marrying EU females whose “occupation “ was open for debate ( usually in the employ of pimps) was the most common. Proof of marriage, bingo free to stay. Nothing to do with showing compassion

Indeed you can always find a HR reason if you want

I am not questioning your greater experience and know that not all visitors need a sponsor. Only that some do, especially those from countries where there is a history of overstaying. What % that applies to I don't know nor do I have anything other than a gut feeling that this isn't a massive problem as it doesn't get a lot of noise and it would, in places like the Mail, if it was. Do you have the figures?

Where were those doing this coming from? Surely if they were EU citizens they had the right to be here anyway? I know of scams involving Russians obtaining Latvian and Estonian passports illegally and coming here in large numbers but that's different.

I do not know the % either but anyone coming to stay in a hotel, may need to provide just a hotel booking, how easy is that? Numerous times these are then cancelled or credit card not accepted. There are visitors refused every day, even now, but not massive in the grand scheme of things but still enough to be a problem and takes up many hours to interview/ do paperwork/arrange detention and removal. Believe me many airlines, although legally obliged to remove, put as many obstacles in the way as posdible

EEA FP are issued to non-EU relatives, therefore if you were Spanish living in the UK, your wife would have obtained an EU FP rather than a spousal visa. If you were living in Spain, she could also have got one. So it is non- EU nationals, therefore they are from anywhere. Many sub-continent students have been known to “marry” EU nationals to allow them to remain beyond their studies.
Russians/Ukrainians indeed abuse EU documents, as do many other nationalities. Most abused document being Italian ID Cards, a favourite for Albanians

Russians get into the EU through Lithuania, Brazilians get in through Portugal, Other Latin Americans get in through Spain, Africans get in often through France. pakistani/Indians get in through the UK. Turks get in through Germany.

is this one or two Billion people with a potential back-door into Europe ?

Colonialism has come back to bite Europe in the ass
