He has kept us in the premiere division and almost certain again this season.
Yes, I would love to see them play attractive attacking football but, I’m afraid we don’t have the players for that. We play to our strengths and I’m afraid that means boring defensive football with little possession whilst relying on breakaway goals.
If we tried to play the way we would all like to see, we would have been relegated some time ago.
I said in another piece I wrote that, we can’t make race horses out of donkeys. (That might be a little harsh but, I think you get the gist).
At the moment I think we all have the choice of watching them play the way they do or, try to play attractive football but go down.
Yes, thanks again to Roy for keeping us up and, knowing that even the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and other big name managers who wouldn’t touch Palace with a barge pole would not be able to do any better.
I hope all the ‘Roy Out’ campaigners who seem to think sacking a manager is the solution to all our problems at least read this, think, and then tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about.

If we lose but give 100%, then applaud, applaud and, applaud again.

Well put. Pity is for the moaners ,it’s football facts that always come out on top, not football fantasy.
It’s not that things can not be changed , but not just by changing a manager working with a group that merely shows its inadequacies every time he does let them off the leash. And invariably gets beaten.

Play boring defensive football as we can't play attacking.

Apart from West Brom we have let in the most goals this season so far. We have a good squad of players and if he picked our best 11 then we could play better football.

Roy will retire at the end of the season and that is the best thing for him and us.

With regard to our midfield in particular I don't think anybody has a clue what that is as they're all so average / on their way down. What has become clear is that Roy hasn't missed some great talent.

For sure he’s done a great job keeping us up.

What’s the longer term plan though - he won’t go on for ever and if he can’t commit to a 2 to 3 year project why invest in players a new Manager may not fancy.

Whether we like it or not (clearly there are plenty in both camps) It’s crossroads time and the reassurance of steady Roy won’t be there to comfort us!

He’s not the only Manager who can do that though. Premier league survival is not exclusive to him - if that’s the sole objective.

Yes! Another thread about Roy.

Fwiw, I agree he's been great for us. But we need to move on.

I have spoken to supporters of other clubs, some lower down the leagues, and they cannot understand why some of our supporters want a change when we have a proven manager who keeps the team in the PL season after season.

When I mention displeasure about the style of football, some commented that the tactics have ensured PL survival, while one other commented that at least when the season's fixtures are published we see games against Man C and Man Utd whereas his team in the lower division is pitted against less glamorous opponents. Some are envious of our supporters having a team in the PL.

Interested to see which players he could pick to make us a better team that he doesn't already.

Basically all of the above

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

How has he done a great job ? A team that has been in the prem for 8 years should be expected to finish above all three promoted teams. I don't think his done a bad job, just what is expected and let's be honest if we didn't have zaha, we would probably be sitting around 15 points with Hodgson. Biesla, moyes, and Rodgers have done good jobs. Roy has done an adequate job, nothing more nothing less.

Regardless of opposition we now go into games expecting to have 2 shots for and 20 shots against which is definitely not good enough.

Roy's only done what's expected, keep a team that had been in the league for 5 years and turn it into 8. We haven't progressed at all and he's refused to sign any youth apart from Eze so now our squad is the oldest in the league. Thank you for being average Roy!
