There should be zero controls on any goods between Northern Ireland and the mainland and shame on Boris and co for even countenancing such a move. Announce that we are not intending to put up any border infrastructure between us and the ROI. If they want to mess about with our exports to them then let them. It is a minuscule amount over that border anyway. And since they are pissing us about as it is on the various borders, lets at least have some equivalency. Then we go zero tariffs on all non-EU agricultural items and let the world send us its produce. Let's not piss about anymore. A genuine trade reset is happening anyway thanks to Covid so lets actually make it happen. Pleased to see Lord Frost is setting his stall out nice and early.
If the EU genuinely cared about the Island of Ireland they would set up a preferred trader system for the major corporations to eliminate the unnecessary paperwork. It is a simple and obvious solution which shows that they still want to punish us.

Given that the EU is doing everything in its power to make life difficult as opposed to their "desire to work together" I would tell them to stick everything where the sun don't shine and just get on with it.

I do agree but the UK government needs to take a huge share of the blame for this. The EU, by its very nature, was never going to play ball. It literally sees Brexit as a direct threat to its existence and events of the last few months have done nothing to assuage that fear/paranoia. There never was, at least in the short term, a workable deal with the EU. That much was obvious to anybody with even the most basic understanding of how the EU functions. All the evidence in plain sight. The way in which other referendums were ignored or forced to be re-run and so on. Which is fine. That is what it is and why we needed to be on the outside. Where Johnson and co have f***ed up is even contemplating this nonsense whereby goods going from the main-land to Northern Ireland are subject to any controls whatsoever. Utterly unworkable. Heaping all the blame on the EU is like blaming a wild dog for biting and snatching at things. That is its nature. The real idiot is the one who thinks he can pat it on its head and then expect it to abide by an agreement not to be a c***. We need to simply accept that a deal is not workable and move on from there. As we should have done in the first place. And the blame for that lays solely with Downing street. The US have dropped the punitive tariffs applied to UK goods we were in the EU, due to ongoing disputes of protectionism between the two. We could do this because, of course, we now control our own tariff schedules, and we are no longer in the EU customs union. Let's hope this temporary suspension is given permanent effect. I assume we have no intention of re-introducing the EU's counter-measures given we are now third parties in the dispute. I'll assume it was OK for the EU to act illegally in subsidising Airbus. It's only bad when the UK does things. Brexit bad, etc etc.

Italy and EU block vaccines to Australia: This is a dick move. Given we are outside of the EU and therefore not subject to their "protectionist EUroNationalist scheme"... sorry, "export transparency scheme", I would be happy to request AZ send 250k from our factories to our *actual* friends and allies in Australia (as opposed to the belligerent tossers on our doorstep our political class claim are our "friends and allies") Edited by davenotamonkey (04 Mar 2021 4.59pm)

Not sure what immunity the EU parliament gave, it is a matter for Spain. They reside in Belgium where previous attempts to extradite have been refused by the courts.

Foreign wind, of course, will have to be checked at UK borders. Remember to check that the wind used to power your home has been sourced responsibly in the United Kingdom.
