I am surprised that nobody has mentioned our much maligned former player Valerien Ismael who seems to be doing an excellent job at Barnsley!

Former players who I wouldn't totally dismiss would be Lombardo or Popovic. I haven't been following their careers at all, should have googled them really. They could have gone to sh1t for all I know.

I’m not sure what happened to Sheffield United this season after finishing 9th last term? It was obvious lack of funds would have played apart, but that puts into context what Roy has done over a longer period.

I like Chris Wilder, he’s honest and he got his team playing some good stuff last season. So as a future manager for us, it is not out of the question.

Just speculation.

New teams in the PL often surprise the rest but by the next season they have been sussed. Players thrilled at being in the big time perform above ability more often than not. However next season they revert to form, it's not that they are bad they playing to par.

Wilder bought 2 expensive flops so the owner is probably thinking why should I give you more money you don't spend it well.

What's their injury record like this year? better or worse than last year? Who got injured is just as important as we know with Wilf.

It's worrying that like Howe he seems clueless as to how to turn it around which is why I don't want him. Give Roy credit when things go bad for Palace he seems to know hot to stop the rot.

Wilder reminds me of Pardew.

100% agree. Why are we suggesting managers who have failed in their previous jobs.

Wilder has spent 100+m in the last two summer windows and they have had the worst start in premier league history and bottom of the league.

Howe - relegated Bournemouth

I mean, surely we should be looking up at trophy winning managers or we are better off sticking with Roy.

we can look at them, but they might not be looking at us

You must be joking. What have we got going for us to entice that level of manager. Parish has said in so many words that we're skint. The club has half of it's squad out of contract in a few months time and Roy has dropped very broad hints that he doesn't have much of a say in the makeup of the squad whether it's which players will have their contracts renewed or whom we might buy.

He has dropped more hints this weekend about how much he admires Connor Gallagher which I take to mean that it wasn't his idea to cancel his loan deal in favour of a misfiring striker.

An absolute no to Chris Wilder. He's done nothing to merit consideration. It does however highlight the problem we are facing in finding a replacement be it at the end of this season or next, that somebody with Wilder's credentials is touted as a credible replacement.
I've a kind of feeling we might end up with Dyche which I know won't please many.

It’s a big yes from me. Very highly rated by fellow managers and coaches.

Whether you would consider Wilder or not . If he demanded control over transfers, he won’t get it here, unless taking Freedman, out of the process , proved to be part of a rethink. Not likely.

Oh brother!

We might not be able to attract the very top managers but we are Premier League and must raise our sights above Micky Mouse candidates.
We already have a top manager and had another before that in Sam Allardyce. De Boer didn't work but at least he was an ambitious choice.

We cannot go backward now.

It's a no from me.

As others have already stated, some of his high profile signings simply haven't worked. Brewster & Ramsdale for example.

SUFC are looking to bring a DoF in because they too can see that Wilder can't identify a PL footballer.

He's had one good year, possibly down to the "promotion bounce" but this year they have been dreadful.

Having said all that, I'd go for a pint with him.
This season will hurt him as he is a genuine Blade.

By the same argument we would never have had Coppell. Lombardo is hardly backwards either, although I haven't been following him recently. I am interested how far backwards Lombardo is in comparison to Roy now? I forgot about Ismael at Barnsley, I've always liked Barnsley and nice to see them do well. I wouldn't be too unhappy if we at least considered him.

As for the Wilder and Howe comments, I would have thought those rely on only looking at Roy's successes and only looking at their failures, since they've also had plenty of success, and Roy has actually been known to fail on occasions too.

Ismael is doing well but has done nothing to deserve or warrant such a big step up to a club like Palace yet.
Even if he had he isn't a good fit right now. We do not have ANY players with the exception of Wilf (who is probably leaving) and Eze (who has recently proved he has much to learn) that can play the way Ismael will want to set up.
