The Washington post took down Nixon because the editor would only print what was confirmed by 2 named sources. Nixon could bluster as much as he liked but they caught him bang to rights.

The current crop of journalists at the WP should hang their head in shame they have destroyed the reputation of a first rate investigative paper.

I think there is a very significant difference between the Nixon expose and this. The Nixon one was the defining evidence which confirmed all the rumours. It needed to be 100% watertight.

This was merely supporting evidence for well established accusations, the evidence for which exists in previous recordings of Trump's own words.

The error was not one of a material fact but of a detail. If the article had had said that Trump had inferred these things then no correction would have been required, because he did. The mistake was to rely on a witness's memory and print that he said these things, which he didn't. Not in those precise words on that occasion.

It is not a collaboration by the 5 eyes.

The USA is a member of the 5 eyes.

The US Office of the Director of National Intelligence is a senior-level agency that provides oversight to the Intelligence Community.

It is non-political and served both the Trump and Biden administrations equally.

What the personal politics are of it's serving officers is unknown and unimportant. They are professionals who do their duty.

To suggest it is "full to the brim with Democrats" is yet another Trump like remark without a shred of evidence to support it. Good for a laugh though.

I repeat, there has been no official input from other security intelligences in the conclusions made from this agency.

How the conclusions line up with what most people can readily observe and what the obvious agendas are I'll leave for others to judge.

When it comes to laughter, again I'll leave it to others on whose commentary is more rooted in reality.

In other, loosely Trumpian related news

HBO has an upcoming doc on QAnon, and appears to be making the claim that Ron Watkins (8Chan administrator and Son of 8Chan/2Channel owner Jim), maybe even along with others such as Frederick Brennan, has been behind Q posts since inception.

This would not surprise me in the slightest – it's more or less the same theory that I've read about and posted on here before. Simple, logical and feasible.

I would genuinely like to discover who 'Q' is or are.

I'd say it's quite likely to be two or three people.

Likely. However even if the person or persons was identified, eg. Ron Watkins, would the Q mob believe it? Nope. Should be amusing, but it's hard to laugh.

There's not likely to be a report made by the other members of the 5 eyes into a matter which concerns only one of them and for which they hold by far the best levers to enable them to investigate.

That's not the point. The 5 eyes share intelligence and may well have contributed information which helped determine what happened. That we are unlikely to know.

However, other agencies within the USA have reached identical conclusions. Are you suggesting there is some kind of giant conspiracy going on? Are you Alex Jones in disguise? Read this:-

What you "observe" is tarnished by the bias that flows out of your every pore. There are no "obvious agendas" to be seen other than a desire to discover the truth and ensure that these things cannot happen again.

I have always thought this thread, which you started, had a very ironic title. When someone is as biased in favour of someone as you are to name it as bias against them is really pretty funny. And also very Trump like.

Trump and his bs has been largely removed from mainstream attention by the long overdue actions of Twitter and the other major social media companies. Thus the incoherent chatter about him and his "philosophy" is now restricted to the dark corners of the web where those who enjoy it can bang their drums without disturbing others. Long may that last.

I have read this before. Let's hope they don't just repeat the same claims but come up with definitive proof and evidence of what has happened to all the money that has been driven to their websites. If it can be shown to have been a scam all along then maybe it can finally be put to rest.

A percentage would.

A number of them became disillusioned after the inauguration, though they were probably the ones who took it genuinely seriously.

I think though that you have to factor in that a lot of it is....a kind of political info-entertainment with tribal dynamics with a little bit of supporting industry. A certain number were always tipping their toes so to speak...there for the ride.

I'm not going to criticise them too much because, politically these are my people, though I never believed the ruse given to them on the military taking over. (though I do believe that Trump considered trying it).

I think what has happened to them has been particularly cruel.....but this manipulation of bases is typical of both sides.

Within days of office Biden shuts down a pipeline losing tens of thousands of blue collar and not a few white collar jobs.

Now Ford's auto union are accusing Ford of moving new car production to Mexico.....Ford say conditions have changed.....Damn right they have you don't have a president who's going to punish you for it.

That union by the way backed Biden in the election.

....there's profit to be made in Mexico!
Watch what happens now with manufacturing jobs now that Trump's gone.

What's that saying? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

One lesson I've learnt in life is that when someone slags someone else off to you....always look at the person who's doing it and what their motivations are.

When you look at the criticisms of Trump the man I can agree with some of it. However, you note that it's nearly exclusively about Trump when the reality is that the only difference between Trump and another politician was that Trump was much more obvious. At the start he didn't care what you thought of him and said what he thought.

However, the longer the Trump presidency went on the harder it was to distinguish it from something like a 'Jed Bush' type administration. Indeed, at the end the policies were just the typical GOP machine.

So essentially Trump was beaten by the system he claimed to wanted to break....In my view his mistake was to discard Bannon early on and listen to liberal republicans.

People voted for Trump because they know other politicans will bend over for the system, play the game and feck their voters over all the same as the game has always been rigged for elites and their money.

I think they knew that Trump and Sanders were the only likely change from that....and Trump was the choice presented.

For a time Trump was a refreshing change from that....but he was never the radical change he claimed but all the same he improved America significantly on foreign policy and domestic policy on jobs.

With the recent election the establishment had their chance. They had always hated Trump and it was the establishment who contrived to get rid of him....there was a lot of colluding and lying and it's starting to come out now....and reading those twisting this way and that to justify deceit and lies essentially reveals just how black the system is.

If you were a blue collar worker, Trump was by far your best bet....so if any of them were convinced by media to vote Biden then this will be rather painful for them.

When Biden said it was back to normalcy....he wasn't kidding.
