I wouldn’t be totally opposed to Frank/Morris combination coming in.

Apparently Morris is held is high regard within the game as a great coach alongside Frank who likes to play a modern, attractive game whilst showing a willingness to play youth.

Their 2.5 seasons as a management team cannot be sniffed at. They made significant strides forward with Derby and took them to within one game of promotion to the Premier League by playing young, hungry, exciting players including the likes of Tomori, Mount, Harry Wilson and Tom Lawrence.

Year two was the debut Chelsea season, unexpectedly taking them to a top four finish by again showing a trust in youth including Tomori, Mount, Abraham, Gilmour, Hudson-Odoi and Reece James playing an exciting brand with youthful exuberance.

If they can replicate this at Palace through effective coaching, modernising the style and bringing some excitement and on-field ambition, I would not be opposed to it.

Furthermore, I see Lampard as a big name in the game that might help attract players to the club. Plus, Morris will be very much aware of the best Chelsea youth prospects in their Academy and might be able to sway them in joining us as part of the ‘project’.

Thinking about the future, with Cahill approaching retirement, having him as part of the set up would be great and the Chelsea connection may help us out again.

Frank is as professional as they come and with Parish undoubtedly keen to see a return on the money invested in the Academy, Lampard’s credentials are as good as any in my opinion.

I think there's some mileage in this, especially the Cahill connection. If Lamps does join us, he will have a different job to Chelsea, as ours is a top to bottom overhaul, which is going to be fraught whoever takes the reins.

The big downside though, is that his name is Frank.

I think Lampard was very unlucky to get the boot at Chelsea. They bought far too many players at once, most of whom were moving to a new country during lock down, and fitting them all in was always going to be a challenge.

My reservation about him is that we've had our fingers burnt before when human beings take what they know in thier hearts is a big step down in coming to us. Benteke, Sakho and Cabeye were supposed to lead us to a higher level but just lowered themselves to ours whilst taking top money. You've only got to look at Moyes (until this season) Benitez and Mourinhio to see that managers don't always downsize comfortably after leaving big clubs any more than players do.

Would we be getting Lampard on the emotional rebound? Would he sulk when our players struggle to implement his style? He would be working with a markedly lower quality of player than he had been used to at Chelsea, and even at Derby (relative to the league).

I believe Chelsea signed 6 players for a sum of around £220 Mill.Chelsea had lost 5 of their previous 8 PL games and were in 9th place when Lampard was given his marching orders.

I don't think he would be a good choice.

Couldn't claim to be an expert on Chelsea but stories around him marginalising / not talking to fringe players and falling out with Kante who is a world class defensive mid ring alarm bells.

I didn't think much of his continual selection of Tammy Abraham and he made a poor decision to leave Jack Marriott out of Derby's play off final team after he'd turned the semi against Leeds.

Whenever I saw Chelsea this season I thought their performance levels were way below the sum of their parts.

Lampard was also the one who signed all these players when he didn’t even need them. Tuchel’s starting 11 lately shows that Lampard already had at his disposal a very fine squad.

There were stories about issues behind the scenes but I cannot vouch for their veracity.

Did Harry lump a shoebox full of money on it? I somehow doubt it.

There is no chance of him even getting an interview. I wouldn't mind him, But...
It will same type of manager as Roy. Job description survive in PL at all costs and style comes a distant second.
Mark Hughes
BFS
Dyche
Possibly Howe - so long as he clearly understands the job description.

I don't think Lampard is right for us, agree with those above who have pointed out his team was performing below the sum of their parts.

I still think its between Dyche and Howe, and may well depend on if Dyche wants to come or not.

Please, please not Hughes I can't think of any club he has done well at and moved forwards. Epitome of a big name player who goes into management and gets jobs due to his name alone.

Are you sure it was him who signed them?

If we should go for a former superstar - I am ok with Steven Gerrard.
