If we're watching a TV channel and the ads come on, either the sound goes off immediately or we switch to another channel. But, there's no escape. They're coordinated. All ads at the same time.

But, what is it with using animated or computer generated animals? They seem to be the marketeers favourite. The latest I've seen, which prompted this, is a talking donkey telling me to buy a mouthwash. What!

How often have you seen an ad and thought - I must buy one of those tomorrow. Hardly ever, if at all, I'd wager. Do companies get a return for the enormous cost involved or is it just an awareness thing?

Anyway, I just find TV advertising a big switch off these days. Certainly doesn't work for me. What about you?

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I rarely watch live TV mostly football. I record loads of shows and watch them when I want. As for the adverts I fast forward during that oh and when the pundits are talking on MOTD.

Very very occasionally I might spot an advert for something that I might buy but I agree mostly they are just annoying.

Lloyds Bank "We're with you through this time of crisis"

Me "no you're bloody not you have closed your local branch for most of the last year.

British Gas "We can come around and install a new boiler"

Me "Yeah but you can't come around and service my one it's been 18 months since my last annual service"

Ad Nauseam.

They advertise their own crap programmes or services so much that it wouldn't make much difference.

Yes, have to agree, and all ads on at same time does grate some what, the one that annoys me is the gold coin advert, limited edition, free booklet, and a once in a lifetime to buy 1/4 soverign, or now i think 1/8, for only £199, try selling it on and see what you get. I sold a few half soverigns and got £80, so a quarter would be £40, and 1/8 £20, it goes by the weight. Thats my biggest con ad of all time.
