Sadiq Khan the gift that just keeps giving

Ah, the 'mail online', the gift that gives on giving, mainly through your incessant links to it.

I think khan is doing a good job, reality is not going to suit motorists that's for sure.

I think he will win in May, by a good margin.

I think you are correct although I wonder how many people in the emergency services will vote for him.

I don't think he has done a good job at all. If he's not careful London will become a ghost town. The High Street is finished, pubs will close in their hundreds, Huge offices are no longer required for the large numbers previously required due to work and lifestyle changes and small businesses are struggling to survive and may never open up again. No-one really wants to live there now, with massive numbers selling up and moving into the countryside and commuting into the capital as and when required.

He may get his wish that London becomes affordable, but only because prices there will start to plummet.

I sort of agree with you but I am not sure that it will ever become a ghost town.
Major cities will always have a life and they will always regenerate.
I dislike Khan a lot and feel sure that he is doing his best to change the face of London forever - and not for the good either.
I don't know why Central Government can't step in and sort him out.
And for those that assume I am just another one eyed Tory - I would prefer Red Ken to Khan - he was an intelligent man who to me loved London - Khan hates it - and that is both sad and dangerous.

Yes I know where you are coming from, I just see London as being on the downward curve of a cycle at the moment and am not sure how deep that curve will sink.

I ask myself the simple question of what is the attraction of London post covid and I can think of very few positive responses to that question.

I agree with you about Red Ken and Khan. Khan is the first Mayor in a long time who I think is totally wrong for the job.

One point which is being missed in regard to the traffic calming measures -
Resident A lives in a road that is now shut off by these measures so it is now a "no through road" and without doubt the residents quality of life will improve dramatically for all sorts of reasons - noise, pollution, safe for kids to cycle and so on.
His/Her property value will also increase.
Resident B lives in a road which is as it was but close to Resident A - their road is now jammed with traffic as drivers look for other routes - pollution is higher, the noise is ridiculous and so on.
His/Her property value will now decrease.
They have both always paid the same Council Tax and so will the Borough concerned now increase Resident A's tax and lower Resident B's?
They should because as such one is almost a private road and other one is now blighted and their property prices are affected.
Interesting scenario, which if I lived in the latter road I would take all the way to Court as my life would have been affected without consultation or warning.
It happened locally to me in Surrey - a road was shut off as a through road, so the rest of the Borough's residents petitioned the Council that those residents should now pay more tax and look after the road, drainage etc.
The bollards were removed after three months - the whole thing all at huge expense of course!

Khan cares about Khan , hardly unusual for a well remunerated politician, he is a good example of Napoleon complex IMHO.

Not the Daily Mail btw

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

He is playing the race card saying Bailey doesn't have a good attitude to Asian festivals etc.( see Radio London first " debate " ).

Am sad to say Khan will win and London will continue to go down, people who can leave will and the revenue base for tax and rates will diminish

Which in turn will mean more Government bailouts!
It will never be Croydon and go bankrupt - or maybe it will and then Khan will have to go as will the role of Mayor - who knows - maybe he is being given enough rope?
Let's hope so.

He's relying on his race or religeon to swing the votes from the muslim/black population. He fails to see that younger generations are liking their way of life in a western country. What will show that it is a usa mk2 is when voting by proxy is huge.
Let's wait and see but I think he's a bit too cock sure of himself the no good kh*nt.

And now wait for the old, "look at pollution lets tax motorists more" line the same as when the marker was put down years ago on the worst day for years bearing in mind it was predicted to be the worst with temperatures and barometric pressures.
Its all a con by the biggest con. No CP not boris!
