I am finding the trial compulsive viewing.Watching the defence trying to put together a case is unbelievable.

The real point of the case is not whether the scum was killed illegally. It is more of whether it was a racist reason. Personally I don't think it was but I'm white so I would wouldn't i !!!

I find that quite a puzzling comment. I confess this isn't something I am following very closely as I have rather a lot of other more pressing demands on my time, but surely as this has nothing to do with who was the victim any opinions about him are a distraction? Isn't this solely about the guy who is charged and whether what he did was proportionate in the circumstances? If it wasn't then did he intend to kill, in which case he is guilty of murder, and if not he is guilty of manslaughter. I realise there are much wider contexts involved but they ought to be kept separate. It's in everyone's interests that they should not be allowed to spill over into the trial and for it to be seen as a more general trial of policing. That policing needs an overhaul in the USA seems pretty obvious but the officer needs to receive a fair trial and be seen to receive a fair trial.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Well let’s hope the families of the 19 people who died, 14,000 people arrested and owners of the property damaged in protests agree.

If it's a fair trial their best chance of conviction is manslaughter but that's a fifty fifty as you only need one juror to disagree I think. I think regardless of any outcome short of murder with life you're going to get riots. As with OJ, it's all about who's been put on the jury. Edited by Stirlingsays (30 Mar 2021 11.14pm)

Not really as he was a scum bag and whiteness and white protectionism are/is on trial. Its written in a few articles but why let that suddenly get in the way of an excuse to loot and kill. This could be the straw.

There will be riots, whatever the outcome. Chauvin's eyes already show signs of sleep deprivation/stress/anxiety. He'll almost certainly get jail time, which will probably lead to suicide.
