We played similar to last night earlier in the season against Liverpool and Villa and got punished. What we should be doing is playing more like that against lesser opposition and perhaps finding a better balance against the bigger teams. We fully deserved a point but Everton's finishing cost them the three points.

I thought Wilf was too much for them, Eze looked confident and Jairo and Tekkers had some good involvement in the link-up play. Some of the one-touch play would have had the commentators creaming themselves if it had been Liverpool, Man City or Chelsea, but as it was us it was hardly metnioned. PvA got forward well but was awful in possession and wasted opportunities and was a liability at defending; his pace is the one thing we'll miss if he leaves though and his directness. Luka made a really bad mistake again, but in fairness did have a better second half.

Vicente clearly has to get MOTM, but overall it was just really good to see us play some football for more than 5 minutes in a game. It also gives me hope that if we can just make a few shrewd signings then we could even have a chance of cracking the top 10 next season. On a side note, it's amusing to see various articles appearing from whining Everton folk about things ranging from Ward's "elbow" on Digne should have been a penalty, to Ayew made too much of a fuss about having a studs up challenge into his shin. So it seems the Blue side of Liverpool are a bunch of cry babies too

I agree with what you say. Had commentators been watching City,Barca etc their tone would have been quite different. I normally look at Crooks team to see if any Palace players have been included. I missed the match but from highlights, stats and comments a well deserved point. Guiata obviously really good but as Seaman would have said "shot stopping us his job". We are fortunate to have him but he is one of 11 out there - that said he should have been in Crooks' team!

I'm with you totally on this one Teddy. The clue is in their job title. Number one priority - keep the ball out of the goal. I just don’t get the general emphasis on being 'good with their feet', surely anyone who plays football needs to be good with their feet.

As for their kit - we'll, I know it helps to distinguish them, but pink, really. My 7 year old granddaughter saw some of the game and, in a tone of utter disgust, said 'why is that one wearing pink?'. Teddy, you and I both know that a goalie should wear a green roll neck jumper over black shorts. Proper kit eh?

That said, I think Guaita rates as one of the best keepers we've had. Saved us again last night for sure.
