This is classic Dazza. Just when there are rumours on numerous websites about Lampard now being favourite, we suddenly get an announcement from Dazza that Lampard’s ‘the one’, with no confirmed source.

It’s really quite funny!

Alex the confirmed source is Tomato?

Like I am able to share where I get my info, just cause I get some information does not mean it will always happen but I just share what I get told.

No one is forcing anyone to believe my messages or to even to read them.

I find your posts very amusing. I am looking forward to one being correct.

Dazza .Didn't you say Howe would be appointed a while back ?

Little story for a Friday night:

If your planning application gets refused by the council you can appeal to the independent, government appointed planning inspector and try to have the decision reversed. The whole process is stitched up incredibly tightly, and impropriety is unheard of, though legend has it there used to be a guy on the inside who would, from time to time, in a very careful, clandestine fashion, contact would-be developers and offer to 'fix' their appeal in exchange for a big envelope full of used notes.

A few developers went for it, a few turned him down, and some tried to report him, though he was always too clever to get caught.

In the end, the medium-sized developers of the day got together and discussed the issue. They noticed that whilst there were plenty of times the brown envelope did the trick and got them their planning permission, there were also plenty who had got permission without the bribe. The only consistent pattern involved the mysterious insider suddenly returning the cash to certain developers with a warning that things had gotten 'too hot', and that he couldn't help them this particular time. Without fail these developers always subsequently ended up with a refused appeal. These developers of course accepted the refund and kept quiet.

What they worked out was that this Mr Fix was in fact just some nobody in the admin team at the planning inspectors offices. All the appeal decisions were made by inspectors in the normal, straightforward way. Mr Fix had no influence whatsoever, but would get early sight of the inspectors decisions whilst doing the photocopying or whatever.

What this guy had worked out was that if he picked appeals that had a chance of being successful, and got bribes from those developers, then half the time he'd be right, and it'd come off. He'd look like he was on the inside, when in fact he never was.

I've no idea if the story is true, but I always think of it when I read a confident ITK post like the OP.

Part of me thinks maybe Dazza has seen a contract for Lampard whilst doing the photocopying at Selhurst (after all, there surely are some people with that kind of knowledge for that kind of reason).

Largely though I think of the story because it reminds me that anybody can pretend to have inside knowledge when in fact they are simply saying that which is plausible anyway, especially when giving themselves the get out clause that their last insight didn't come off for reasons only they and other insiders fully understand. That, like Mr Fix at the planning inspectorate, is simply trading on the fact that you can be right often enough without knowing anything special at all...

Agree, the " in the know " sub culture inevitably is actually " not in the know ".

In the same genre as " my opinions are facts becuae I believe them ".

But as has been said, makes for some entertaining reading and everything is voluntary.

I lived in hope for years that someone close to the Club would over hear a conversation about upgrading the Arthur facilities to semi fit for purpose but sadly never happened.

It's all very well SP getting his face on TV to talk of " coups ", how about letting supporters have fit for purpose toilets. ( I may have alluded to this in my signature )

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I'll be very disappointed if it is Lampard.

He has had two jobs and failed at both of them.
The only positive is that his profile in the game could possibly attract certain players, but it's a no from me.

I'd bring in Raffa. Big Sam might be humbled enough to come back, but I doubt it.

I only want successful managers. Players winning stuff or being smarter than average does not make them good managers.

I know this is a discussion site for friendly and intelligent debate, but I am not sure quite what planet you have been on. Is that planet one where there's an ESL already and Eric Cantona isn't cvnt?

I'd take Fat Bottomed Frank for the reason that he'd give youth a try as he did at Chelsea. We may not have the raft of young offenders that Chelsea have on their books (I believe that 35% of League Two is made up of Chelsea loanees), but our youth would see those chances and want to be part of a club where their is future hope.

I think we would keep good players and attract better players overall if Lampard were to come, both at youth level and first XI.

He's learning. He knows the PL well and wouldn't try systems that don't suit our personnel like FDB.

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet.

Our youth aren't good enough for the Premier League so you would like to appoint a manager that will guarantee us Championship football

This wouldn’t have anything to do with the above?
Looks like someone put a £10 on him yesterday. If your not careful Dazza you might become quoted as a source close to the club on click bait articles!

To be fair he is 4/11 favourite so it’s not a reach to suggest it may be him. I rather suspect Jose has upset the Apple cart a bit with Celtic and Eddie Howe - as press speculation is that Celtic quite like him.
Personally I’d take Wilder or Howe. Not sure Lampard would be the one for us, but who knows. Can he manage a team on a shoestring? How is he under pressure - as he’d have that with us? How adaptable is he? (He was sacked after losing 5 in 8 so is he tactically astute enough to modify his tactics to suit both the players and opposition?) I have no idea but his win percentage at Derby was 45% and 52% at Chelsea which is greater than Big Sam at every club he’s been at apart from Limerick! Appreciate his managerial career is early.
In short it will be interesting if true and it will be interesting what transfer kitty he’d get, whether that would see Freedman out (hopefully) and what control he’d have over personnel.
