Mullery 32% - sacked After yet another defeat, this brings Roy's win record at Palace to P156 W52 D37 L67 - just 33% win ratio Hard to make comparisons I know but he's only slightly ahead of Mullery (who didn't have the luxury of a Zaha in the team)

I’m not defending Roy, or saying I’m enjoying the football we are playing, but was Mullarys record against top flight opposition? Edited by Palacelinc (28 Apr 2021 7.10am)

I want a change as I'm fed up of the depressing football, but you can't argue with the points return on investment as 33% win ratio is enough to remain a PL club. I'm too young for Mullery, but as others have said, Francis and Taylor were managing in the second tier.

What’s the problem again?

That lot were playing nobodies, with all due respects to them. Roy is taking on some of the best in Europe, year in year out. And as someone just said , the wins he gets keep us playing some of the best in Europe..

Pardew was ahead of this wasn't he? I'm not looking it up, just guessing.

I'm more in favour of Roy's tenure than against, despite all his flaws which have been thrashed to destruction elsewhere. That said, I would prefer to look at his longevity record. He's kept us in the Premier League for 8 years out of the 29 years since it's formation in 1992. In other words for 28% of the life of the PL. Not many other managers can compete I suspect although I haven't done any checking. No doubt one of you will fill in the gaps.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
