Pardew's win ratio was 40%.

I imagine his loss ration was massively higher than Roys though.

If only Palace losses were rationed!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Thank you AS. You're right of course, don't know what I was thinking. Must have been the funny mushrooms I had for lunch.

funny what points stats can prove.

i tend to look at the table over 38 games...thats the most telling.

if i was to use stats i would compare our net spend against the other clubs in the league (that revolves around money spent)

Win ratios can be deceptive. This season, Hodgson's win ratio in the league is 31.25%. The same number of points (38 pts)can be attained with win ratios of 37.5% (12 wins and 2 draws) and 9.375% (3 wins and 29 draws and NO defeats).

A far more accurate measurement is points per game. I'll leave others to work them one out. I just wanted to show how meanngless win ratios can be. A classic example from the old days is our Division 2 league title win in 1978/79 when we had a win ratio of 45.24% (w 19 D 19 and L4). We would ahve attained the same points tally (57) with 28 wins 1 draw and 13 defeats = a win ratio of 66.67%.

This whole thread isn't the strongest of arguments to use against Roy as all managers has faced different situations.

That said. I think Pardew has a worse starting point, and a 40% win would equate to around 45 points, and 33% would be 39ish.

Hard to make comparisons I know but he's only slightly ahead of Mullery (who didn't have the luxury of a Zaha in the team)

1.23 points per games/47 points per season in the Premier League. Excellent statistics. As much as I want Roy to go because I’m bored to death, it’s stats like this which will keep him in the job for another season.

193 points from 156 games is decent over the best part of four seasons in the Premier league especially against the backdrop of a profit in the transfer market.

i am not old enough to remember mullery, but certainly remember taylor & francis.

win % are all well & good but you cant compare roy to those wasters.

you may not like his style of football...but respect what he has done in 4 years as what he has done, many would have failed to do.

if you had actually watched francis & taylor teams you would be begging for roy to sign a new contract!

More Hodgson myth making. The numbers are quite close - Pardew around 45% games lost, Hodgson around 43%.

In Pardew's last year we managed 27 points from 37 games.

He had a very good year then a shocking one.
