I might be wrong but from the highlights and the look of the lineup it looks like we played with 3 at the back with wingbacks. I guess this was more down to the fact Tomkins and Clyne were shoehorned in rather than a sign of things to come re a change of system.

Good to see that the young CB O'Brian looks like a decent aerial threat. It'd be great if one of the two young CBs can make a step up into the first team next year as this area is in desperate need for some youth (though I'm not overly optimistic they'll be quite ready).

It was a back 3 for most of the game but changed to a back 4 after Tomkins and Clyne came off on 62 mins. 3 at the back didn't work too well because Clyne, despite his forward run for his cross for the equaliser, kept forgetting he was meant to be a wing-back.

Both Baghelou and O'Brian played reasonably well. Baghelou is the one who tends to go forward out of defence and provide forward passes when he can.

Thanks for the info. Do you think either of the young CBs have got what it takes to make it? They both look like big units but you need more than that in the prem.

Also has there been any news on Imray the guy we signed at the same time as O'Brien. Remember reading he looked impressive in his debut only to get crocked by the opposition.

Re Imray, haven't heard a thing. Hasn't featured in any squads since his injury as far as I can recall. He won't be back this season given that the U23s' last game is this coming Friday and the U18s' is on Saturday.

As for the two U23 CBs, not sure either is ready. I like Baghelou; he loves bringing the ball out from the back, can play a good pass BUT isn't the fastest thing on two legs and is still making elementary mistakes. For me, he would do well to have a loan spell with a lower league team next season.

Hmm yep must have been a pretty bad injury I guess. Shame.

Re the CBs I've only seen short highlights and I can definitely see what you mean. Like you say it'd be good for them to be loaned out and hopefully really progress. Can't remember the last time we sent out someone on loan and they returned a success though!
