You've got to take bookies odds with a certain pinch of salt - need to read between the lines a bit, but I think William Hills' latest odds give a pretty accurate picture atm:

Lampard 8/11 (57%)
Dyche 13/5 (26%)
Howe 10/3 (23%)
Vierra 10/1 (9%)
Wilder 16/1 (6%)
20/1 bar

My speculation is that Parish has offered the job to the top three in the betting - two will be available, but if Dyche becomes available then he gets it, that's if SP has learnt his lessons from p*ssing off Pulis and Allardyce who most likely wanted more control over recruitment than SP could provide, although both managers might have mugged Parrish off and were always looking at us as a stepping stone back into management and on to better things.

Even Potterball has his fans:

I think it will be Roy. We don’t have much money it seems sadly, so that isn’t a great attraction as it makes the job twice as difficult. I think we are holding out for Dyche but don’t want to pay up his contract and so probably hoping he resigns so that it saves us a few quid. Without sounding rather gloomy I also believe most of the out of contract players will resign on short term deals just to keep us ticking over for another year. I would dearly love Palace to progress but it seems that it’s getting harder and harder to the point that the Premier league is outgrowing us. By the way I would like to be completely wrong with my view and get a younger manager in with fresh ideas, and give him some financial backing but I don’t see that scenario.

Agree. Every year another one or two PL teams get an owner with proper money who invests in taking them up a level. Newcastle are trying to get there as are Burnley. We are in a dwindling number of teams scrapping it out at the bottom. But we are good at avoiding the bottom three, helped by promoted teams without heavy investment who find it hard to compete. Next season there will be three of those, so we may be in a group of seven or so fighting it out. Not a given we will go down whoever the manager is.

Investment wise we're miles off the top 10; however, even if we just replaced Sakho, Wickham and McCarthy with players who can stay fit and have energy we'd immediately be significantly stronger. In fact, even if they can just play more than 30 minutes a season they'd be an upgrade! We have a lot of expensive baggage and an opportunity to get rid. A few canny investments and I think we'll have enough quality to finish around where we are now again. A new manager and we might possibly do it without wanting to cut our eyes out. For me that would be enough.

Good post. I agree we need to shift some of the high earners out and replace with younger and maybe slightly better. We all want star players but if we can a couple of decent full backs for example from the lower leagues that would be fine.

We don't have the money for star players so time to start shopping in the bargain basement. The clubs below us are in real financial trouble so most will have to sell at a reasonable price.

Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 coming up are Norwich and Watford who are likely to be stronger than they were last season. The 3rd one might even be Bournemouth. It will be a real struggle next season.

exactly - there will be NO weak links next season, apart from us if we don't sort the summer out - and with the wages some of them are on we could probably save money AND improve the squad as someone has sort of suggested, they don't have to be world beaters just competent and fit.
