Frank Lampard 👀

Interested to hear your views on this potential appointment. Personally I am on the fence, certainly proved himself as a player and relatively successful at Derby. Wasn’t given long at Chelsea but rumours of falling out with players, as has been said, are our youth products good enough

Another development, lets hope it is true.

Whether it's true or not I have that particular clickbait pimp on ignore as all the supposed Palace fan ever does is to run the club and it's players down

I'd much rather have Howe or Dyche than Lampard, as both have a better established track record as a PL manager. Lampard is unproven and too much of a risk IMO.

I’m getting used to the idea of Lampard (having given it some thought since Dazza suggested He’d been offered the job on the other thread) but I reckon it’s a bigger risk than we need to take at this point in time.
He is very well regarded, intelligent and studious. He speaks very well about the game and if we were languishing in mid Championship I would be delighted with his appointment - so why not now?

I don’t think we can afford to role the dice when the likes of Dyche may be available. I think Lampard may well go on to become a great manager IN TIME and I’m not sure we can afford to give him the time needed.

But then would a successful Lampard Managing a comparable club in 3 years time choose to come to Palace? Maybe it’s now or never and SP has so much faith in Lampard that he is prepared to take the risk now?

Either way it’s a difficult decision and having enjoyed the stability provided by Roy - any change will need a period of adjustment.

look at roy's other achievements, they really comparable to Howe?

So did Roy at his first job in the top division as he was sacked by Blackburn when they were bottom of the league.

Intriguingly the decision on who will replace Roy will be made in part by someone who has failed dismally at management in the Championship having been sacked (or mutually consented) from Bolton and Notts Forest

No but I wasn't comparing the two but merely addressing one single point that you made (many weeks ago)

My Brentford mate tells me that there is a rumour that Howe is taking over at Brighton, with Potter going to Tottenham....don't see it myself...

In my opinion the whole world of football and its finances, the big wages and transfer fees have finished for us, The Academy is the way forward so in my opinion Frank Lampard if he wants the job is the perfect manager to bring the younger players through, added too some good loans and a couple of shrewd signings would be the way forward, Mateta, Eze, Mitchell, Wilf, Sclupp are all this side of 30

I would love that. Brighton fans can't stand Howe and Potter has done an ok job there keeping them up. I can't see Spurs going for Potter.

My vote, if I had one, would go for Palace to get Steve Cooper if Swansea don't win the play-offs. Failing that Sean Dyche or Frank Lampard.

I agree with your first paragraph. However, regarding Cooper he is very much in the Potter mould but apparently Swansea fans have been critical of his tactical awareness and use of subs. Possibly a little early in his club career to take a chance but who knows?

Potter-ball with better players could work very well. Look at their stats. They are where they are not through poor defence (look a their goal difference) but through missed chances. Just convert a hatful of their draws to wins and they would be Europa league.
Stick in a Son and a Kane and the Spurs midfield and they could be top 4.

Not so silly?

Also has not Cooper been linked with England U21?
