I went back yesterday for the first time since October and boy I’m suffering today. For anyone who hasn’t been for a while take it easy! Try about half whatever you were doing before - in my case that wasn’t exactly Ronnie Coleman level anyway.

I went in between the lockdown and went on the treadmill quite high for 8k or so. As I stepped off, I basically fell over but pretended to be warming down. I couldn't walk to the water machine so pretended to do some squats rather unconvincingly. Then I couldn't walk up stairs to get out. Took a rest in the jacuzzi before I could walk home.

I’ve taken the opportunity whilst the gyms were closed to add to the equipment I already owned and now have my own home gym.

bought a bunch of dumbells at the start of the 1st lockdown bulls***, march last year.
got a lot of space in garage, basic bench, weights & hifi.
created a decent habit of 30-60 mins 5 days a week.
A friends son created a schedule for me of 250- 500 varied reps a session
also got a fixed bike(which i hate)
love it much of the time (sometimes though, it can be a bit much after a day climbing ladders)
wish i'd got back into it many years earlier.
good luck to everbody giving it some welly!

Fair play - 3 days is enough for me.
If you need any inspiration have a look at Ryan Hurmiston on YouTube. No BS, no selling, no fad stuff...just good solid advice. He can be quite funny as well.

I've been back last couple of weeks taking it easy not really motivated to be honest. I find the older I get the faster I lose my fitness and the longer it takes to get it back. Only going 1-2 a week maybe as the weather improves..

Still mustn't grumble plenty worse off than me.

The other half was talking along similar lines the other day, though in fairness she may have said 'back to the gin'.

I’m completely retired so time isn’t an issue just the commitment. Three times in the gym just about equalises the week’s Timothy Taylor intake.
