Like, i said painful finish, the bench should be packed with the young future players getting 15/20 mins here and there, But it nots, Roy knows he
is going, Sad finish

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

I thought this might be a new thread on Scott Dann.

Said it before and have to repeat it, he is finished at this level and should never play for us again.

Last night for both Ing goals he was nowhere.

First he was so slow to try and block and even then it was a half hearted effect.

2nd was a pretty standard run by Ings that Dann anticipated but within 5 yards managed to be completely outpaced.

Totally agree with Palace99.

Scott Dann- seriously 'found out' last night.

Shocking and embarrassing.

Surely know is the time for giving some of the younger players some game time, i think Roy must know he is not going to be Manager next season and has no intention of doing what is best for the club and will stubbornly plod on with his favorite old out of contract players, Roy has done a good job at the club, but his current line up is leaving a bad taste

I read the opposite into it. He wants to be manager next season, so he is picking his strongest side to win as many games as he can to improve his chances.

If he had already been given a contract for next year and been let in on the clubs plans for next seasons squad then he might pick a side with next year in mind, but how can he?

The cb situation is worrying. A couple of years ago we had so many options but know we are playing a CM next to an old guy Dann or Cahill and neither have any pace. I think all our problems stem from the lack of quality at the back meaning we can’t press further up the pitch as when we get played through we are screwed as the 3rd goal showed last night.

The U18s may be involved in a play-off match if Fulham don't win their final game so it's understandable that Paddy McCarthy would want to have his best players available.

Meanwhile the U23s have a play-off match coming up shortly and Derry, likewise, will want his strongest line-up available. With the potential of promotion to the U23 Prem 1 this seems reasonable.

So, don't expect any youngsters to be appearing.

Its not just the defence which is showing weakness. Last night our midfield was shocking; late in the tackle, giving away needless fouls, losing the ball countless times & spraying misplaced panic passes everywhere. The longer the game went on the worse we got. Badly need McArthur back & maybe buy a strong recognised midfielder to help out next season.

And yet I guarantee that Roy will still pick him ahead of Martin Kelly...

I'm not saying that Kelly is the messiah but seeing as we have the 2nd or 3rd worst defensive record in the league you would think he would be given a chance. Riy must really not like him at all.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

I agree your summary but what we need most of all (and have for the past few seasons) as a priority is a midfield 'general' We use to have Michael Hughes, Ben Watson and Barry Bannon but since then nobody with any productive skill.

Admittedly they are not 'ten a penny' (far from it) but as an interim I'd go for Jonjo Shelvey.
He has the vision and is able to pass the ball long or short. Sure his temperament is suspect but he is not prone to panic like our existing midfield who treat the ball like a hot potato and make suicide passes to marked men or, more usually, straight to an opponent.

We have accomplished strikers but they don't get the service. Our goals scoted and conced thbis season make sorry reading.

Shelvey turned us down to go to Newcastle. We weren’t a big enough club.
