One of the issues for Brexit voters was taking back control of our borders and setting a level playing field for migrants coming from in or out of the EU.

As I said in my previous post Barnier is positioning himself for a run at the presidency which may come to nothing. Just interesting that he has picked up on this issue to start his campaign with.

Something bloody odd going on with France at this moment. Its clear that there is a centralised effort to not report on how France is experiencing some serious social unrest be it the ongoing effective break down of control in numerous suburbs to the ongoing Yellow Jacket protests and the damage to traffic cameras and so on. Throw in that letter from both retired and serving personel in the French Military and now Barnier, who is a serious politician, to start voicing such sentiments, and it speaks of a nation that is heading for a major crisis.

And it does matter. If France implodes, there is a real potential fall out for the UK.

This is what is so strange. To even question the wisdom of immigration is usually considered beyond the pale but for a politician of Barnier's standing to propose what he has with almost no reaction?

Macron is a busted flush. He appears to have pissed off almost the whole of France and I am beginning to think he is considered potentially in danger of losing to Le Pen next year. My understanding is that many on the Left will boycott him. Not necessarily voting for Le Pen but in a two-horse race, not voting is a genuine expression of political will.

Meaning the establishment might be looking to scupper Le Pens chances of making the last round?
