The only reason I can see for being strong on Dyche, is the fact that he could be the same old, same old. If true , it wouldn’t seem we are aiming for the stars.
Dyche,s only real recommendation is he can get a limited group to Work hard enough to cling on to a place in the Premier league.. Where have we heard that before, Only all the time.
Let’s be honest, does the club have the where with all to aim any higher?

Maybe Spider is right in saying he could give us a change of style, but he does add the caveat 'given the right players'.

Question is, have we got or can we get the right players?

I am firmly in the Roy in camp for at least one more season!

I said 3 years ago I would love a few seasons of boring mid table medicocracy football instead of relegation battles etc... And it's exactly what I got!

So what if we play s***e football it's a results game! I remember the s***e football we played under Freedman before the promotion season and I'm reading some people want him back? And Roy to go? Short fickle memories on some!

When Roy has had the players and a fit squad we have played some good football!

And what do people expect when you have Scot Dan playing in defence every second game and we concede lots of goals?

Definitely has the Charlton/ Ipswich feel about it! Careful what you wish for!

Has anyone looked at other teams message boards? They all play s***e football and all the fans are moaning!

Memories are just that, Memories.

This is the here & now, totally different to what was. As ME has correctly pointed out, the 'Clowns' scenario was a long time ago. We/the clubs has to look forward, not back. For supporters its great to look back on our good as well as bad times, its about enjoying the good & learning from the bad. Lets hope the club gets the next few months, before the start of next season, correct.

The style would change, under Dyche, he has said about Palace, “they are good at what they do,” as if what they do is in his opinion a bit basic. Having said that the Burnley, I have watched rarely sets any great entertainment standards.
Everything going forward will be determined by the quality and physical condition in the squad IMO , that has been the problem for the last season and a half, if that side of things is to change for the better maybe we could look beyond Dyche.? If we can’t I for one are really concerned about our ability to remain in the Premier League, with Dyche, or without.

Agreed. We’ll never have a squad that can compete with most of the PL so it’s vital we make the most of what we have. The level we are at is shrinking every season. Next season probably us, Burnley Brighton & the three that come up.

people seem to conveniently overlook that fact when talking about goals conceded!

i dont understand why anybody who doesnt want roy to be manager seriously wants dyche.

forget about age he is a lesser manager than roy and plays similar football...the plus point i suppose is that he is used to working with no budget and we have a better squad than burnley.

if there was a happy medium, personally i would take dyche above lampard as he would probably keep us up without demanding a fortune to spend.

.

I’m really hoping. There will be some really significant changes and improvements to the squad, regardless of who ends up manager.
It’s not that there is no quality so much as that quality has developed to many tired legs. literally in some cases as they are constantly hobbling, and unable even to play for lengthy periods. Because of average ages it won’t get better unless the bullet is bitten and some big contracts are not renewed.
I am a believer in Hodgson, and my worry is that ,the job may well have still been open to him but he no longer wanted it because he knows nothing of what I would hope for is going to happen.
If this is anywhere near to the truth, I really don’t think anyone will keep us up. Spider, is right to say even Dyche , would need some new younger ,fitter players on board, let’s hope we get them or as said I fear the worst.

None of us really know what's going on behind the scenes.

If I was Roy, I would think now is a good time to leave Palace with my reputation and dignity intact.

The players contract situation is nothing to do with him . Sorting it out looks to be a huge challenge and may yet prove our undoing.

Of the supposed candidates according to the media, none of them inspire me with that much confidence.

I'd like to see a younger manager but my concern is that the situation calls for an experienced operator.

It's a tough one alright.

...it was 15 years ago that the Charlton fans said that they would like a new manager and plenty of clubs have changed managers in the intervening years without being relegated so surely it's about time this mantra was put to bed

It wasn’t that a club simply wanted a new manager per se. It was that an underfunded, unsuccessful club which had enjoyed an unprecedented run in the big time (during which time it overachieved relative to the resources of clubs above and below them) wanted to get rid of the manger who had brought this success so they could progress to the mythical ‘next level’. We all know how that ended, and the fact that it occurred 15 years ago does not lessen the importance of this cautionary tale.

The only way we are going to the next level is if a very, very rich person or nation state decides to pump large sums of cash into the club without any realistic expectation of seeing it again. Unfortunately neither our chairmen nor our US ‘investors’ fit that bill. A change of manager alone will not achieve the transformation people are seeking.

It’s dispiriting to think that barring a miracle what we now have is the best we can hope for, but unfortunately that is the depressing fact of the matter. Money has killed competition.

I agree with you and have been saying that for years. It wouldn't be that difficult to find a billionaire investor willing to fund the club but the sticking point is our chairman who loves his role as Mr Big and wants to retain it and no billionaire would be willing to pump a couple of hundred million into a company that he doesn't have control over

Agreed. How many times have we both said this?

Well it’s about time he passed the club on then.
