I know what you are saying but all the time we are up there, we have slim chance of winning the cup or qualifying for Europe.

Personally, I would die happy after that.

Me too, I am not keen on planning for failure we will probably manage that without planning.

Your opinion mate. No problem with that.

Biggest /best Palace games in the last 30 years?
-4-3 Liverpool at villa Pk
-Blackburn play off game at home (Wright bright)
-zenith cup final
-fa cup final x 2
-Stockport away

-sheff we’d away
-5-0 Brighton at home
-Brighton playoff final away
-Watford play off final Wembley

You could argue 3-3 Liverpool at home. How many of the best/ biggest games have been in the premier league ?

3-2 at the Etihad is right up there

The entertainment value of watching palace is zero but there’s no guarantee we would be the great entertainers of the championship we could easily become a Sheffield Wednesday or a Sunderland my biggest disappointment is the lack of progress on improving the ground it’s a dump at the moment

walking down the holmesdale road to see the palace aces!

Is it?
Compared to staying up, getting up, cup semi /finals, play off semi finals /finals.staying up( last game of the season) Games against our rivals.

An away game. Great result, not denying it , but it’s more about the opposition than Palace.

I’d go to any European game , anywhere. Bosnia, galatasary, Serbia, Russia, Poland. wouldn’t care.
But do you honestly think our second team has a slim chance of winning the cup? No chance.

We were a top flight side at that time, having used the money and status to attract Thorn and Martyn, without whom we don't win that game.

-Blackburn play off game at home (Wright bright)
The great excitement of this was the chance of having a crack at the top flight, not the result itself.

-zenith cup final
I refer the honourable gentleman to my first answer.

-fa cup final x 2
See first answer.

-Stockport away
-sheff we’d away
Fair enough, but would it not be essentially the same if we had a last day escape like this in the Premier league?

-5-0 Brighton at home
Surely the league we were in isn't the point here? If we hammered them in the Premier league it'd be the same.

-Brighton playoff final away
-Watford play off final Wembley
See second answer.

Take your pick from the wins at Chelsea, United, City, Liverpool or Arsenal?

I totally get that premier league life isn't the fun we hoped it'd be, but hoping to go back down (even on a yo-yo basis) is like trying to recapture your youth. You can do the same stuff again that you used to, but it won't be the same because you've already found out where it all leads to. The mystery, novelty, and the dreamlike potential of the great unknown can't be recreated.

I’m not anti premier league.
But I’d rather float around the 2 divisions, watching us win/score goals.
Stagnating at all in life isn’t what I want, my football club being the same.
Had 8 years in the top league. Would fancy millwall, charlton, Pompey, etc away. All proper 2nd tier teams in the football league, although not at the moment.
I’d have 2 years in the championship, getting up then 2 in the premier league , as a fan.

I’d be over the moon if we had a couple of seasons in the top league (full houses, get to do the big away grounds) then get relegated (get to see loads more goals/wins, do a few of the championship away grounds). I know promotion isn’t guaranteed/easy , but if we could spend a few years in each league it would be ideal for me. Get the parachute payments, play millwall/charlton as well as maybe winning a league, play off finals.
More youngsters would get a chance , all the high earners would have clauses saying that would get reduced wages when relegated.
8 odd years in the top league and we haven’t improved Selhurst at all, I know the training ground is getting sorted.
The atmosphere would always be great, either fighting for promotion, or a first year in the premier league.
I’ve thought before that city/ Chelsea 50 odd year olds have had a right result, spent their 20s/ early 30s going to the ‘proper grounds’ coming away disappointed, understanding what it’s like to not be that good. Then reach their mid 30s/40s (when they are chilling out a bit and probably getting a few more quid) and they are winning leagues and going to the San Siro/ Nou camp.etc.
I know if we get relegated we might not come back up again for ages or ever. Watford, Norwich, West Brom seem to have it sussed.

The last few seasons have been the most boring ever. I too would prefer to be in a lesser division if it meant more entertainment.

I follow footy for entertainment, not for my teams bank balance.

Just surviving each season is boring behind belief.

We need to be careful when wishing to go down. I believe that there is a top six in each league. League Two winners can be expected to be fired up when meeting the cream of a higher league, or those relegated to the league to which they have been promoted.

If only the cherry picking that has been started with Eze, and the U23 and U18 performances could be continued for the senior team all would become better.

Agreed but that’s not because of the division we’re in it’s down to RH and his tactics. He has no ambition other than survival and that’s the missing denominator when compared to being in the Championship. In the Championship you have the ambition to get promotion and because of the playoffs the chance and excitement of that can last up to the end of the season. Not all RH’s fault granted, with little financial backup from the board. However we should at least have the genuine ambition for European football or at least a Cup Final however RH knows if he plays his park the bus way and concentrates solely on survival in the Prem, statistically he will just gain enough points to achieve his goal

We need to risk more, have more ambition or of course things in the Prem will be tedious ...Time for a young , hungry motivational manager

I found pardew entertaining... losing 22-21 to Swansea as an example.
