Me too, made my day, but I didn’t give my Chelsea in laws any stick because they’ve embarrassed us twice this season, so I just enjoyed it quietly in my own head.

Up till then I had no interest though, it’s long since been the special game and day it used to be even for the neutrals, I spent the first half in Morrison’s

I concur with these comments.

I recall the days when there used to be "It's a knockout" on Cup Final day between supporters of the respective clubs.
Furthermore there was television coverage of the teams as they left their hotels and overhead coverage of the team buses as they made their way to Wembley etc etc.

Not the same anymore but in those days seeing a 'Live' game on television was a novelty!

I was just about to type almost the same thing Willo. Cup Final day was always a special occasion. Last game of the season. Wasn't there pre-match wrestling on ITV with Jackie Pallo and Kent Walton commentating? Usually managed to get a group together for a CF party in front of the box. Saw two at old Wembley, one was ours in 1990 of course. Things certainly have changed, not always for the better.

Anyway, good game yesterday and the best team won. So pleased with the result and for once, with VAR too.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Very appropriate for a cup competition, don't you think? I wonder what happened to its jovial presenter....?

Forgive me if I am wrong but we appear to be two chaps somewhat 'Long in the tooth' reminiscing about the good old days!

I recall the wrestling with Jackie "TV" Pallo,Mick McManus,Les Kellett etc with Kent Walton commentating !

Ha,ha, thought so. Yes, it seems to be an age thing. The older you get the better things were in the past.

But, when I watch some of the old films on Talking Pictures TV, I realise it wasn't necessarily so.

I yearn for the return of 'All our yesterdays' with Brian Inglis!

I was in Midhurst on Friday getting my second jab.
I would have been filled with excitement had I witnessed a local supporter of advanced years wearing a Palace facemask !!

Watched ITV for the build-up hoping to see Eric Morecambe pop up & create mayhem, then turned over to watch the game on the beeb(*spit*)

Should never moved it away from last game of season (appreciate its been an unusual one this year) BUT, also 3pm KO

I always remember the buzz of the 1979 final Man U v Arsenal, it was the day after the night before for us of a certain age, what a night the Burnley game was and the the cup final the day after, palace fans loitering outside the arsenal hotel singing as the arsenal players got on their coach
